About Me
Hello there!

I'm Sophia, living and working in Paris. I was born and raised in Budapest and moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 18, as I was given the wonderful opportunity to study at a prestigious university.

In my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, reading, and making new friends. I consider myself an open-minded individual who is not afraid to take on new challenges.

I strongly believe that you cannot teach a language without having experienced learning one: I understand how the English language works and would like to pass on that knowledge to other people. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
Education
Durham University (2015-2019): Bachelor studies in Politics, Economics and French.
Central European University (2019-2020): Master in Political Science
+ Sciences Po Aix: Erasmus Programme
Experience / Qualifications
Teaching and leadership experience:
I have completed a two-year-long leadership programme in Budapest, Hungary, in order to work as a camp leader in an international camp for 500-600 children. I worked there every summer, taught children about cultural topics in an informal way, in English as well as in Hungarian. Furthermore, I worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school for underprivileged children in Budapest.

Language experience:
I have been learning English since the age of 6, completed several exchanges in the US and the UK before moving to the UK to study at a top university in English. During my secondary school years, I took several English language exams: B2, CAE and IELTS as well - the preparation process differs depending on the specific exam, which I am able to provide help with.

As an expat in France, I know the feeling of although "knowing" a language, not being confident enough to speak it and express yourself in an authentic way.

If you have the same problem with English, my classes are for you.

What can you expect from my classes?
- Conversational class tailored to your needs
- Interactive methods
- A stress-free environment in which you don't have to worry about whether you're "good enough"

I can also help with English schoolwork/homework if needed.

My lessons are always tailored to your personal goals. I can help you if you’re

• preparing for Hungarian citizenship or residency requirements

• planning to move to Hungary

• already living here and want to feel more confident using Hungarian

• or simply curious about this beautiful (and famously challenging) language

We focus on real-life communication, practical language use, and building confidence. Grammar is important, of course, but it becomes much easier to understand when it’s based on meaningful conversation, real situations, and your interests.

If you’re looking for a teacher who will support you, motivate you, and help you achieve real results — while keeping the learning process light, engaging, and human — I’d be happy to work with you.

I have over 5 years of teaching experience, working mainly with adult learners from different backgrounds and language levels. Throughout my teaching career, I have focused on helping students achieve practical, real-life communication skills, whether for relocation, integration, work, or personal goals. I hold a 120-hour TEFL certification, and I have extensive experience teaching English as a foreign language, as well as Hungarian as a foreign language. My teaching methodology is student-centered and goal-oriented: I always adapt my lessons to the learner’s individual needs, level, and objectives. My classes balance structure and flexibility, combining clear explanations with plenty of guided practice.

My lessons emphasize communication and confidence-building, while grammar is introduced in a practical way, connected to real-life situations and meaningful conversation. I create a positive and supportive learning environment, while also encouraging students to challenge themselves and make consistent progress.

If you want to learn Hungarian in a positive, encouraging environment while being gently challenged to reach your full potential, book a trial lesson with me. Together, we’ll focus on practical communication, clear structure, and steady progress — all in a way that feels motivating and enjoyable.

Book a trial lesson with me so we can discuss your goals and how I can help you reach them!
