I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. My name is Henri, I am 24 years old and I am in my first year of doctoral studies at Jussieu.

I obtained my baccalaureate with a specialization in mathematics and highest honors in 2020. I then completed two years of preparatory classes (MPSI/MP*) at the Lycée Kléber in Strasbourg, after which I entered the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. During my first two years at engineering school, I specialized in mathematics and mechanics. I completed my engineering studies with a dual degree, earning a Master's in Mathematics Research from Jussieu last June.

I have been offering private lessons for 3 years now. To give you an idea, last year I was tutoring 2 students: One in high school and one in a mathematics degree program.

I am a qualified teacher of Mathematics and hold a Master's degree from the University of Rennes 1. Before university, I did a preparatory class MPSI-MP at the Lycée Chateaubriand, so I can share my experience and give advice on how to succeed in your preparatory class.

I believe that understanding mathematics comes primarily from practice: for example, a theorem is much better understood when it is applied regularly or when it has been proven independently. For this reason, I assign exercises to be worked out using the course material, the goal being to see the lesson in action rather than simply memorizing it mechanically.

When correcting an exercise, I try to present different ways of looking at the problem in order to highlight it. I also try to explain how I personally solved the exercise (including the different approaches I explored, even those that didn't work) and I encourage the student to do the same: this allows them to develop their own problem-solving techniques.

After a bachelor's degree in physics and a master's degree in statistics and economics, I attended CentraleSupélec and ESSEC Business School. My academic path allowed me to develop a strong grasp of mathematics and statistics. I also worked as a teaching assistant in statistics at ESSEC and completed a research internship on a NASA-related project.

In mathematics, I believe that progress depends first and foremost on a solid understanding of the material. Therefore, at the beginning of each session, I take the time to review the key concepts. I explain them simply and with examples until the student feels truly comfortable with the subject.
