I am a Mechanical Engineer and completed by degree with distinction. Maths was one of my favourite subjects in School & Engineering College. My daughter is in Year 2. During this COVID-19 lockdown, I started teaching my daughter as I realised she was not upto the mark in Maths skills. I was so busy in my normal job that it never struck me that my daughter needed help with her Maths. In last 2 months we both have worked very hard on her Maths. I can now confidently say that she has become very good in Maths and we both feel proud about it. I have now even started with Year 3 Maths with her so that when she starts her school in September, she is already familiar with it. She is becoming more and more confident and I feel good about it. This is the best job I have done in this lockdown period and I am so happy to see my kid happy and confident.

I now want to share what I have learnt with my daughter with any other kids who might want some assistance to brush up their Maths skills. It is very important to have a strong Maths base as that helps with their confidence and to do better in senior classes. I plan to take only few kids to start with for online teaching. After 2 months of hard work with my daughter, I have my own tricks and games to help develop the skills needed for good Maths foundation for any kid out there who wants to be good and confident in Maths.

Also as this is aimed for primary kids, the each online class will be for half an hour. What I have realised with my daughter is that she is best first half an hour and then she starts to loose focus and gets tired. So ideally what I am aiming for is a half hour class where we will cover one Math skill and questions on that skill. Also I will give them homework on that skill for which there would be a deadline to return so that I can see where they are progressing and where they need more support. With my daughter I also do 15 minutes of mental maths every day. This is very important for continuous progression and learning. If you will opt for this session too then I can explain it over the phone call how it will works.

If what I have mentioned above interests you, please feel free to call me for a chat and I will be happy to take you through the process of how we can achieve the best results for your kids. Thankyou for your time to read this and I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks
Sachin

Struggling with core Maths or English—or just need a clear path to Level 1/Level 2 Functional Skills? This 1:1 class is a practical, confidence-building programme tailored to your goals. I specialise in adult learners and teens (SEND-aware) and use diagnostics to build a plan that closes gaps fast.

What you’ll learn (Maths): number, decimals/fractions/percentages, ratio & proportion, measures, perimeter/area/volume, data & charts, word-problem strategies, calculator efficiency.
What you’ll learn (English): reading for purpose, skimming/scanning, finding evidence, planning & structuring writing, SPaG, formal vs informal tone, functional communication.
How we work: short diagnostic → personalised ILP → targeted mini-lessons → guided practice → marked feedback with next steps. I use retrieval practice, exam-style tasks, and simple templates so you know exactly how to improve.
Accessibility (SEND): calm, structured sessions using visuals, Now & Next, chunking, and (if useful) Read&Write, Immersive Reader, mind-mapping, dictation. I’m experienced with ASD/ADHD/SpLD support.
Outcomes: stronger skills for work/study, improved mock scores, and readiness for the Functional Skills assessments.
