I am a certified English teacher who has recently moved to Rotterdam from the United States. English is my native language. Whether you are a true beginner, intermediate, or an advanced English speaker who is simply looking for someone to practice with, I am here to help. I have a true understanding of how intimidating learning a new language can be and tailor each lesson to suit your individual needs. We will assess what you already know and work together to set goals that will push you out of your comfort zone but not be overwhelming. Since moving to Rotterdam I have helped many students work towards their English language learning goals. I have experience teaching ESL (English as a second language) for business and regularly help ESL students prepare for interviews. A little about the lessons: I like to use a variety of materials to build my lessons but a typical lesson will focus on a relevant topic to suit your interests and needs, and give you various opportunities to practice listening, comprehension, discussion, formation of complex thoughts and ideas, reading, and building vocabulary. I like to utilize technology when it can be used to enrich the lesson and assign homework as a continuation of our session. *My rate includes our time together as well as additional time spent outside of class preparing your individualized lessons/materials and building a program that works best for your English language learning needs. There are currently 230 million portuguese speakers in the world and you can become one! Portuguese is sometimes tricky but you can learn it in a fun way. As I am a native speaker, I can teach you the basics so you can handle a nice conversation, understand songs and improve your language skills. If you are already an intermediate or advanced student, we can work on that so you refine this skill and upgrade. My english level is C1 (score 104 TOEFL), therefore we can communicate without any problems, and I can teach you in little steps. As French is my native language, I can help young students to improve their skills and get better grades at school by helping them with assignments, giving them tips or studying with them for a test. Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice.
