Flute lessons for all levels. Graduated from the Paris Conservatory of Music with distinction. Over 10 years of flute experience.

From 55 £ /h

Since the age of 8, I have been exploring the world of music, particularly the flute. I took flute lessons at the Niedermeyer Conservatory in Issy Les Moulineaux for 10 years and was a flautist in the junior symphony orchestra for 5 years.

Fascinated by the flute, I participated in music competitions, such as "Prodiges" in Paris, obtaining a distinction (18/20) in 2018. I also participated in a music Masterclass at UDELM (Lions Summer University of Music) in Embrun (Hautes-Alpes - 05 France) in 2016.

I offer flute lessons for all ages and skill levels:
• Beginners: You will learn to control your breathing. I will guide you step by step to produce a sound on the flute and gradually begin playing pieces.
• Intermediate: You will work on pieces adapted to your level. The goal is to refine your technique and reach a more advanced level.
• Advanced: You will develop precision and technique in each piece of music. Explore tempo variations and deepen musical interpretation through nuances.

I organize lessons according to the student's musical desires; with me, there is no doubt, I make sure that learning is fun and exciting.

About Me

Hello !
I am an amateur flautist with a very good level (11 years on the flute)
My lessons are for flutists of all levels and ages.

MY CLASSES
They are composed in 3 parts for beginners:
- Theory, i.e. learning the rudiments of music theory
- Technique of the breath and the production of sound
- Playing simple pieces
For the advanced students, I teach them linked scales, piqués and all possible forms at different tempo, then studies to develop the technique of the use of this instrument and finally selected pieces from the flute repertoire.

TEACHING METHODS
I have a rather unique pedagogy which really allows me to put the student at ease from the beginning of the course. What do I think the best lessons are like?
Each class starts with the "relaxation" method, with simple breathing exercises to make the student feel comfortable, calm and determined to work towards the goal of the class.
For me, the basis of a successful course is relaxation from the beginning. Indeed, it is necessary that the student settles down, that he is aware of his progress by allowing him to develop his self-confidence.
Then, I will explain to him what we will do in this course.
At the end of the lesson, I will review what we have seen together and a little surprise will await him/her, such as a duet, i.e. I will play the piece with the student, but I also have other ideas, suspense ...
You can find out more when you take lessons with me. Please note that in my lessons, it will always be dynamic, creative, positive vibe and my goal is to make the student progress as much as possible (by adapting to his speed).

MUSICAL EXPERIENCES
Since the age of 8, I discovered the world of music and more particularly the flute.
I am passionate about this instrument:
- I took lessons at the Niedermeyer conservatory in Issy Les Moulineaux for 11 years. - I have also taken musical training courses (solfeggio) for 9 years.
- I was also in the junior symphony orchestra for 5 years.

Fascinated by the flute, I took part in music competitions, in particular "Prodiges" in Paris, with a mention Très Bien (18/20) in 2018. I also took part in a music course, MASTERCLASS at the UDELM (Lions Summer University of Music) in Embrun (Hautes-Alpes) for 1 month in 2016.

Moreover, I applied for the show "La France a un incroyable talent" recently by sending a video of my passion.
Through this video, I put forward my talents in music, my rhythm in my skin, my energy, my ability to play in the whole range of musical styles,... I haven't had any response yet, so it's a story to follow!

CONTACT
In any case, do not hesitate to contact me and I will give you the best possible lessons in a very personalized way for each student, you will live a very beautiful experience!
With me, you also have the possibility to see your lessons in English or French.

Learn to play; to decipher the scores and improvise by ear or by reading and analyzing chord charts. This course will adapt to your level of play: simple harmonies for beginners and more complex depending on the degree of mastery of the instrument. This course also includes a thorough introduction to harmony.

This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute.

Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student.

Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams.

Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music.

Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

Santiago tailors each flute lesson to the student's level and goals, from beginner to advanced musician. He combines a solid technique acquired through his training at the Teatro Colón and the Geneva University of Music with a progressive approach.

A typical lesson begins with a warm-up and technical work (breath control, embouchure, fingering, tone), primarily at the beginner level, followed by the study of a repertoire chosen together, and then exercises in musicality and interpretation. The goal is always to help the student progress while fostering the joy of playing.

Santiago teaches children, teenagers, and adults alike, whether they are preparing for an exam, wish to join an ensemble, or simply discover the flute. His strengths include a keen attention to sound, practical orchestral experience, and the ability to explain things clearly.

I am only prepared to go as fast as you are willing to practice and if that is not much then we will use the lessons to have fun and explore music while you find your rhythm. If you have found an instrument that interests you or you want to try many then that is great. Most students start out by choosing covers they wish they could play, songs that they love and want to show off and this can be done within one or two lessons which is very gratifying. Scales, theory and technicality come later if desired or when we are making great progression.

If you are technically sound and driven however and wish to do exams, I can prep you for this easily but do not sign up with exam boards or institutions for you - this would have to be done yourself. I currently have a student studying for Grade 6 MTB flute.

All you require is the instrument and yourself. I will provide the rest and my teaching method depends on what you require.

For guitar and piano I use chords and tabs from ultimate guitar and want to get you playing your favourite songs as quickly as possible.

If technical classical playing on any instrument is what you require then I will provide you with pictures and diagrams sourced from various parts of the web that I find explain everything easily and I incorporate them with my own images and notes.

Every lesson you will be left with an image on your email or platform, that highlights the areas we worked on that day. I also create my own backing, harmony and rhythm tracks for whatever it is you may be learning. So that you can play, clap and sing along.
