Hello! My name is Marília and I'm a musician from Brazil, currently living in Istanbul. I teach and play violin for over than 10 years. In our class, we will learn not only classical music, but also you can learn and play popular music, like folk, rock, pop, etc. Violin is a very democratic instrument. :)

I started playing fretless when I was in the university. I worked as a professional musician for many years. I attended the masterclasses of master musician Erkan Oğur to improve my fretless technique. I currently teach music at a primary school and give private instrument lessons.

Since my graduation in 2016, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced players, and from ages 7 to 70. Some of my students are professional musicians, while others simply enjoy learning music as a hobby.

No matter the level or goal, we all understand how important it is to build a strong foundation—starting with proper breathing techniques and correct embouchure position.

What will we learn in class?
• How to breathe properly in order to control your sound
• How to position your embouchure correctly, and how much pressure is needed for a good tone
• How to place your fingers on the instrument and develop finger speed
• How to read sheet music and solfège
• How to play songs and musical pieces

I’m excited to guide you through your musical journey!

You will learn from basics to orchestral repertoire, solo pieces and chamber music. You will also have the choice of learning music theory. I'm a professional bassoon player graduated from the University of Arts of Zurich (ZHdK) from the bassoon class of Matthias Racz.
