English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is an educational program to help children and adult students learn English. The different skills that are covered in my ESOL classes are listening, speaking, reading and writing. My classes are fun, interactive, and I use current events, hot topics, music, movies, fashion, and sports for example to engage my students and enhance their ability to grasp concepts. My classes are offered from beginning to advanced levels, and are taught in an organized, patient, cultural aware, and sensitive environment.

About Me
Hello! My name is DiTanya and I am a U.S. Citizen and native English speaker domiciled in Morocco. I have a strong desire for travel and enlightenment. I also enjoy immersing myself in other cultures as a way to dismiss stereotypes and unhealthy beliefs about certain nationalities. With that being said, my reasons for teaching, living, and working in education is to teach English, Reading, Reading Comprehension, and/or Writing to eager non-English speakers all while expanding my travel experiences and gaining a deep understanding of other cultures.
For me teaching began many years ago as a para-professional; what is also known as a substitute teacher in the United States. After marriage and children, I left law enforcement to return to college to pursue a career in education. I later enlisted and committed to a career in the U.S. Military before becoming injured and returning to college to become a writer. Following some international travel, I decided that teaching abroad, rather than in the United States, was what I preferred.
I accepted a position as Professor of English with a South American Naval Academy and later with a private institution in Morocco. Because of the immigration processes and wages in South America and Morocco, I resigned my position before the start of classes and am now looking for an opportunity to do what I love, which is teach, travel, and legally earn a reasonable salary. Having studied English as a college student and becoming an award winning writer, I offer you, the student, my friendly and confident ability to teach and communicate effectively. With experience in lesson planning, time and classroom management, problem solving, and adapting to new environments, I believe that I can provide my students a fun and creative learning experience centered around cultural awareness and sensitivity. I’m flexible, an active listener, and I have the patience of a frogfish. Smiles!
Best Regards,
DiTanya

I am a former police detective who once worked with victims and witnesses of crime. In 1999 I was awarded the Maryland Governor’s Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Victim/Witness Services. Fond of true crime, I enjoy advocating through storytelling by giving voice to the dead, ignored, and oppressed. My purpose in writing has always been to champion social impact narratives, provoke thought, and effect change for representatives of the BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) community(ies). As a U.S.National Finalist in the Coverfly Screencraft Virtual Pitch Spring 2022 and again in Fall 2023, I am now in the nascent statges of completing my first manuscript for a creative non-fiction book due to be self-published Winter 2024. I would enjoy nothing more than to lend my experience in helping you achieve your goals and the results you so desire.
