Trusted teacher: This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

Trusted teacher: English SL and Higher Level for the International Baccalaureate is a rigorous course, especially for ESL students. I completed the IB with HL English and received a 7 (highest mark) in my final exam. I will be able to go over both Standard Level and Higher Level syllabuses for the course specific to the material covered in your school, and prepare you for mock and final exams. I will include essay writing skills, literary criticism and analysis, as well as vocabulary expansion techniques in my teaching. A brief overview of the key features of English SL/HL as set by the International Baccalaureate Organisation: • Higher level study requires a minimum of 240 class hours, while standard level study requires a minimum of 150 class hours • Students study 13 works at higher level and 9 works at standard level from a representative selection of literary forms, periods and places • Students develop the ability to engage in close, detailed analysis of literary works, building understanding of the techniques involved in literary criticism • The study of literary works in context is emphasised, and through the study of literature in translation the student is challenged to reflect on the role of cultural assumptions in interpretation • Students are assessed through a combination of formal examination and oral and written coursework. • The formal examination comprises two essay papers, one requiring the analysis of a passage of unseen literary text, and the other comparative response to a question based on two works studied • Students also perform an oral activity presenting their analysis of two works studied • HL students comply with an additional written coursework requirement which consists of writing a 1200 - 1500 word essay on one of the works studied

Trusted teacher: I'm a TEFL Certified (ITQUK) freelance EFL/ESL tutor. I’m also a highly skilled Finance Professional with extensive experience in the International Development sector. My First Language is English, and I’m fluent in Afrikaans. I have intermediate level skills in French, and I’m at beginner level in Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic (MSA). Since 2020, I've taught more than 600 lesson hours to students at all levels. My students come from diverse backgrounds and age groups, and are located in various parts of the world, including Canada, Taiwan, France, Tunisia, Senegal and Belgium. My lessons are student-centred, engaging, and flexible! Lessons are continuously adapted to suit the individual; every lesson is structured based on the identified needs of the student. The focus of lessons will initially be based on a student needs assessment carried out at the start of your course, and subsequent lessons will be adapted based on your progress throughout the duration of a specific course. Specific learning areas may include: * Refining your pronunciation * Grammar (parts of speech, tenses, modal verbs, phrasal verbs, conditionals, etc.) * Practicing everyday language and conversational skills * Exam preparation, focusing on specific grammar and/or vocabulary * Reading comprehension and practice * Writing correction or practice * Improving listening skills * Business vocabulary and speaking practice * CV and Cover letter drafting * Job interview preparation * Improved confidence in using English Lessons are conducted almost entirely in English. This has shown to be the most effective way for students to learn a foreign or second language! To notice an improvement in your English skills, it is recommended that you book an initial course of at least 20 hours.

My son had his first lesson with David last night. The first thing my son said was ́ómg he knows his stuff ́ ́... I am really impressed that David took the time to to ask my son quite a number of questions so he could gauge the level and the gaps in my son’s learning. It was only one lesson but i am super happy to have found David. my sons reaction tells me that this will be a very important part of his learning..

great experience! we only had couple of hours of conversation, as I wanted to take the rust off my French during a trip in Paris. she was very open, easy-going and at the same time very helpful in pointing-out prononciation, words that I didn't know, etc. I'm sure she's great for classes over a longer time period too. highly recommended.

Hugh has a lovely manner. He is very thorough. He taught me how to handle a flute properly so as not to damage it. He gave me exercises to improve the sound of my flute. He is very encouraging. I wish I’d had him as a teacher years ago!
