I can offer tutoring and support to students following the IB Chemistry curriculum from grade 3 through DP2. I passed the IB Chemistry HL with a consistent 7, both in my IA and examinations. Chemistry is also one of my favourite subjects, and I have a very good grasp of all the topics and what the IB expects from them. I can help in understanding concepts and offer support with calculations, any coursework, homework or assignments. I also set out homework (both calculations and applied questions) for this subject to test the student's confidence level, problem-solving skills and depth of understanding.
As for DP students, I can help understand and break down each unit - concepts, relevant calculations and specific learning objectives (skills, guidance and application). I can also offer guidance on exam-style questions (paper 1, paper 2 and paper 3), Internal Assessments, specific exam tips, typical exam calculations and grading answers based on the IB Markscheme.

About Me
Hi!
I'm Shireen :) I am a UCL Biomedical Sciences student who graduated from the IB with a 7 in Biology HL, Chemistry HL, and Mathematics HL.
Other than having a very deep understanding of the subjects I teach, I prioritize cultivating a positive relationship with all of my students. This helps me adapt my teaching materials to specific learning styles depending on the student's needs and aspirations. This also gives me a better understanding of what each student is actually struggling with so that I can maximize my help with grasping basic concepts, rather than simply going over topics from the syllabus. Furthermore, having been a former IB student myself, I am also very well versed with the specific expectations the IB has from its students and I can teach you exactly what you need to know. I also have some invaluable personal experience and can offer tips/tricks to help you achieve amazing results.
I have been tutoring since my high school years, where I first started with some younger students and friends who reached out. My first meeting with a student would include us going through the syllabus to find areas of weakness or gaps to focus on for the next few lessons. A typical lesson of mine includes going through PowerPoints on all the information relevant to the topic, breaking down the learning objectives, and going through any questions the student may have. Once we have mastered the material and I have answered all questions, we go on to solving problems based on the topic we are doing. For DP students, this includes going through relevant past paper questions - multiple-choice questions, skill-based questions, and long answer questions. However, this teaching method is flexible and completely depends on the needs of the student. For example, DP students can also book sessions just focusing on their IAs where we go through the IA criteria together, go through exemplar IAs, devise a topic and relevant methodology, and focus on academic writing/presenting.
The most important thing I can provide as a tutor is support, so it is crucial for our sessions to be all about you. I understand how damaging the coronavirus situation has been to students who may be struggling with gaps due to inadequate lessons and I will do my best to help. This is why my sessions are incredibly flexible, focusing on helping you with whatever you are struggling with rather than having to go through more stressful school-like lessons. I also specifically encourage my DP students to go over the content that they will be tested on in school with me. This allows me to help them grasp the contents better than they would if they were preparing alone, especially with the possibility of exam cancellation and students' grades depending on school tests. All my students should also feel free to book a session on short notice if any questions arise while studying or if they require help with schoolwork.
Apart from that, I like to dabble in weightlifting and am interested in all things fashion. I also thoroughly enjoy any good science humor and would consider myself pretty easy to get along with.
