Education

Graduated with distinction from the Metz Conservatory and the Nancy Conservatory. I then continued with a second cycle of studies at the University of Jerusalem. This allowed me to deepen musical harmony, chamber music and improvisation. My training was coupled with courses in pedagogy and musical methodology in Tel Aviv. I was notably trained by internationally renowned musicians including Emmanuel Krasovsky, Alexander Tamir and Braha Eden.

Experience / Qualifications

In Belgium, I was part of ensembles (ex: the Florilège choir) and I have a long experience in teaching piano. In particular, I taught for many years in different music schools in Brussels and Waterloo. I then decided to create my own piano studio in Waterloo, allowing me to personalize my lessons by adapting to the profile of each of my students and offering them a varied choice and flexibility in their schedules... and this ... always with fun and passion for music!

The first minutes will be focused on the theory (in English, French or both if asked), and some culture of the western music. Then we will practise on the instrument. The program is free, the student can bring any sheets he wants. He will be advised on the manuel technic (how to place his/her hands, how to read efficiently).

Hello!

My name is Solange, I am 19 years old.
Born into a family of musicians, I started piano lessons with my father at the age of 4 and the harp at the age of 7 with Annie Lavoisier. At the age of 13, I entered his harp class at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels as a young talent.

In 2018, I decided to deepen my piano training by returning to the Lemmens Institute in Louvain in Régine Willems' class while continuing my student career in Brussels. I am finishing my secondary studies in June 2022 with a high distinction in piano. I will enter Emma Wauters' class in 2023 and continue my higher studies in her class at the Luca School of Arts, Campus Lemmens in Louvain.

My motivation in teaching is to transmit my musical knowledge and the pleasure of playing while respecting the age and aptitudes of the students. It is possible to combine harp or piano lessons with the basics of music theory if necessary.

I don't move, lessons are given at home (Celtic harp and pedal harp available).

My method is based on a freer and less academic approach than that of music theory for those who wish to develop their musical ear without prior classical knowledge (Although we will do a little bit of it anyway but in a simplified way). You will discover that it is not necessarily necessary or obligatory to know how to read a score to play music. A lot of professional musicians (Paul McCartney for example) do not know how to read notes!
