Hello, I am a graduate of Aristoteles University (Thessolonique, Greece) and I give Modern Greek lessons to individuals or groups of any age. I have recently moved to Geneva and I am learning French. I have been teaching Modern Greek for a few years in Greece, while I was studying. I’ll be happy to continue teaching or tutoring in Geneva to anyone interested.

Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. In the context of a first course, you can get a well-founded idea of my pedagogy. I look forward to meeting you.

I have several years of experience tutoring students of different age groups in Latin and Ancient Greek. I am deeply passionate about these languages and I enjoy helping students improving at them. I believe that understanding the structure of a sentence is fundamental when approaching these languages, therefore this is an important focus for me. During the class I always dedicate some time to reasoning and translating sentences together with the student. I have a BS in pharmaceutical biotechnology and I am currently a master student in Medicine. I find biology very fascinating and I have been tutoring it for years now. Depending on the topic and the student's needs, I structure the lessons differently. I usually explain the topic and use tools such as spaced repetition, notes, conceptual maps to make sure that the student has understood.

Teaching interactively and combining fun and knowledge is my style I have already had 3 years of teaching experience with various ages: from teenagers to adults, so you don't need to think that age is an obstacle for you. I have also completed a seminar and a university course on teaching Greek as a Second/Foreign language. The lessons are structured, and we will practice all the language skills during the lessons. I would not like my students to be just listeners but to participate actively and always discover new things, giving us the desired result. Working with various materials in Greek, we will focus on the difficulties and weaknesses. You will be prepared for public exams (A levels, GCSE, American SATS, Common Entrance) in French, Spanish, Linguistics (English) and Latin (up to Common Entrance) to a high standard. For those not taking exams, you will be taught via grammar and reading, which assures quick progression. You are welcome to bring your own material to explore with the tutor or your school prep. I do not write essays for students but provide a high degree of research to allow you to shine in your project or chosen module.
