Meditation is a skill that can help guide you through life's ups and downs. Learning to calm the mind and body then use skills to examine the experiences we have in order to come to new understandings of how we suffer. We will learn basic mindfulness of the breath and bodily sensations, how to bring up loving-kindness and compassion for oneself and others plus learning the basic tenets of Buddhism including impermanence, unsatisfactoriness and not-self or emptiness. I was an ordained Buddhist nun in the Theravada tradition for 11 years and continue to practise this path daily. My teacher was Ajahn Sumedho (senior student of Ajahn Chah) who gave his blessing for me to continue teaching out of the monastery. Guidance will be given so that you will be able to foster a regular meditation practise navigating any obstacles along the way in a way that enriches understanding.

Each class will focus on a different theme, whether be building towards a peak pose, honing in on a chakra or working on strengthening/mobilising a specific part of the body. Yoga is a powerful instrument that can help us to understand and grow confidence in our bodies and mind. It is fundamental in mental and physical wellbeing, and even just one session a week can make a difference to your life. In this class, you will learn a range of asanas in depth, including their purpose and effects in your body. There will also be an abundance of yogic philosophy and techniques for meditation and pranayama (Breath-work). Each student will delve into their being and explore any blockages or stressed energy, and gradually smooth them out. Yoga is an ideal way to stay fit and healthy, and remove pressures from day to day life. For this Class, I want to create an intimate and comfortable atmosphere for the student; all ages and levels of experience welcome. There will be a sequence of asanas, short teachings of yoga philosophy, and open discussions between teacher and student. Aside from the class, I am always an open ear for anyone in need, and will provide the best support I can. The classes can be tailored to the student's needs and ability. Just have a chat with me about what you want to learn - any specific poses or philosophies, or just general ideas. I am able to provide sessions more similar to a workout for physical fitness and training, or a more relaxed class with in depth postures and open conversations.
