I am a passionate tutor focused on creating a positive environment where students can learn and grow . I tutor students using different teaching methods that suits the student's style of learning. Here are 10 strategies I will apply for effective lessons: Honesty : This helps to establish rapport and trust, the two most critical elements to a successful tutoring relationship. Flexibility : This means being willing to adjust techniques and approaches to meet the learning styles of the student. Patience : What is obvious or easy for you may not be so for your student. I Learnt not to show annoyance in my speech or body language. I am a good listener: I Learnt to pick up clues in my student's speech that enable me to understand how he is really feeling. A good listener does not dominate the conversation! I am professional: Except for discussing my student with SSS staff and/or faculty, information about the student must be kept confidential. I am willing to share my own experiences. By sharing information about what you have encountered, the student may feel relieved that he is not alone. Sharing experiences and lessons learned goes a long way toward building trust and support. It also helps the student build self-confidence. I am a collaborator: The tutor-student relationship should be viewed as a partnership. I am not there to take the place of the instructor. I let the student know I am there to work with her to supplement classroom and individual study. I teach the student how to learn. As a tutor, my ultimate goal is to help the student become an independent learner. I am confident: I was chosen for qualities that enable me to be a good tutor and role model. However, having confidence also means having the courage to admit I don't know an answer. I am honest with my student; tell her you'll need to do your homework and then follow through. She may actually feel better knowing you 're not perfect (and it is a great opportunity to teach learning Skills. After each lesson, I give assignment to the student to boost their development and retention of the topic learned .
