I have been learning drums as well as guitar, piano and theory since I was 5 years old. At the moment, I am studying for my jazz bachelor (drums) at the Conservatory of Maastricht. I have shared the stage with well known musicians, played in different countries and have some musical qualifications. Music mind games are a creative way of learning that Michiko Yurko the founder of the game created to learn music to children using the theoretical knowledge in a creative way with colors, memory games, dances, and every other imaginative way of making learning fun. Examples of games that we like to play: Hide and seek the notes ( a game where you can hide different things that sound, anything can be a musical instrument, but also to hide actual instrument is fun) Dance and freeze: the game where you dance and have to freeze when the music stops Bubbles, balls, and other requisite: Soap bubbles are fascination and a perfect way to play with music and play with the things we sing about. Folk or classical acoustic guitar. The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation. For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...). For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...). Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. Hello! Being a singer and a singing teacher, many many times I have found myself in the situation of having to work on ear training, or solfège, or music theory... or all the above listed! Approaching music and having no clue of these elements can totally be intimidating and off-putting, but in 2023 I feel like it’s a pity that these subjects still are looked at with such a fear. I want to prove to you that building this basic knowledge can be easy, accessible, and not heavy at all! My program is not fixed: I’ll build it on your specific needs, whether they are preparing an exam, curiosity, or getting better at pitch matching... we will discuss it together. I have many books and materials, and I honestly prefer to draw blackboards by myself a lot of times. Unless you want to, I won’t ask you to buy any material, so the only cost that you will have to sustain is for the time of the class.
