Hello, I’m Laura, and I absolutely love teaching singing. There’s something very special about helping students discover and develop their voice, whether they’re singing for the first time or working towards refining their technique. Watching someone grow in confidence and truly enjoy their singing is what makes teaching so rewarding. I have a Master’s degree in Songwriting from Bath Spa University and vocal training with BAST, giving me a strong foundation in both performance and technique. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of performing at festivals such as Shambala, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown, and Cheltenham Jazz Festival, as well as supporting big names from the underground music scene across the UK. Through these experiences, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful singing can be, not just as a skill but as a way of expressing something deep and personal. My goal is to help students connect with their voice in a way that feels natural, expressive, and fulfilling. As a qualified and experienced yoga facilitator, I may incorporate breathing exercises and yoga techniques into sessions where needed. These can be particularly helpful in releasing tension, improving mindset, and opening up the voice, allowing students to sing with greater ease and confidence. How I Teach I tailor every lesson to suit the individual. Whether you want to focus solely on singing, songwriting, or a mix of both, we’ll create a session that works for you. I am an experienced singer that couples teaching with freelance performance at Opéra de Dijon and Opéra du Capitol, Toulouse. As well as focusing on building strong and healthy technique that will enable you to sing for years to come, I offer all-around performance coaching to build you as a classical singer. This involves incorporating yoga techniques and body exercises that support the voice to achieve its effects, and offering dramatic coaching on repertoire in order to transform your vocal talent into authentic stage presence and in-depth characterisation. This can involve dealing with performance anxiety, straight fright, and physically preparing your whole body to sing. Whether you are getting ready to sing in choir at church, in a school solo, or just in your kitchen, we can work together to make singing fun and free, so that you can tackle the repertoire that makes your heart sing. I specialise in training voices from 16+ and especially university-level singers ready to make the first steps into the profession, however anyone with a desire to sing is welcome for a lesson, regardless of experience.

I teach one to one singing lessons in person and online. Lessons are packed with all kinds of information: breathing technique and vocal warm-ups,, exploring a range of song repertoire, musicianship skills, confidence building, audition and exam preparation (for those who want to!) and most importantly, finding a real enjoyment of singing - all in a friendly and professional environment. I have run a successful singing teaching practice for adults and children in Cambridge since 2006, working with a wide variety of people and teaching a range of musical and vocal styles. I teach in person and online. I have an enhanced DBS certificate, public liability insurance and am a member of AOTOS (Association of Singing Teachers) and the Musicians' Union. I also have the NSPCC/Musicians Union 'Keeping Children Safe in Music' Child Protection certification. I have considerable experience in music education and community music both as a singing teacher and a vocal animateur. I have worked with people of all ages and abilities in both a workshop and one to one setting and have run projects, course and classes for music hubs, orchestras, disability and mental health organisations. I have led community singing projects for the Royal Opera, Opera North and English Touring Opera and international projects in Belize and India as well as leading a range of workshops from 'Find Your Voice' sessions to performance workshops in UK universities. As part of mid career CPD, I recently completed a two year course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as part of continuing my professional development - a Post-Graduate Certificate in Performance Teaching (Higher Education elective) and was made a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In Cambridge, I teach singing at The Perse School (Upper) and at St Catharine's College & Churchill College, University of Cambridge. I also run young choirs at the Centre for Young Musicians in Peterborough (PCYM), a division of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Hi, I’m Sarah! I am both an Opera Singer and a classroom Music Teacher. My love for teaching and singing have always lived side by side. I am an Operatic Soprano yet I have sung across many genres for many years. Once you have a good technique you will be able to sing in whatever style you choose! My operatic technique allows me to sing over a full orchestra without a microphone, and without causing vocal damage. In our lessons, I will be able to share with you these tools to healthy singing that enhances your natural tone. You will learn microphone technique, as well as performance techniques that will help you to better convey a character to an audience.
