This class introduces the core concepts of film scoring and how music shapes story, emotion, and narrative in film and television. Students will learn how to support and move images through music, exploring timing, mood, theme, and structure. Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and level, from complete beginners to advanced composers, and can focus on electronic, orchestral, or hybrid approaches. The course also includes analysis and deconstruction of existing film scores to understand compositional techniques and storytelling strategies. Students will learn how to set up and optimize their digital audio workstation for film scoring, define personal creative goals, and work with industry-standard orchestral sample libraries and synthesizers such as Spitfire Audio, Orchestral Tools, and Cinematic Studio Series. Films with sound design and no music can be provided for hands-on scoring exercises, enabling practical experience working directly to picture.

I offer practical DJ lessons for beginners who want to learn how to use DJ equipment, mix music and develop the skills needed to confidently create their own DJ sets. I am a professionally trained musician, saxophonist and music educator with 8+ years of combined experience in music performance and education. I also have practical experience with DJ decks, mixers, music technology and digital audio production. In these lessons, we will work on making the most of what we have through creative-problem solving and inspiration-hunting. You bring your ideas and we develop them together, have challenging conversations and explore alternative approaches to composition, production and songwriting to get you closer to your vision. We will also explore the many possibilities of working with a live band, ensemble or orchestra and how to encourage a healthy but focused work process. Complete beginners are very welcome. You do not need previous production experience or music theory. Whether you are opening Ableton for the first time, struggling to finish tracks, or already producing and want to improve your sound, I tailor each lesson to your level, musical taste, and goals. We can work on Ableton Live, MIDI, sampling and workflow; turning loops into finished tracks; arrangement and song structure; sound design, synthesizers and effects; mixing and mastering; developing your own sound; detailed feedback on your productions; and practical advice about releases, labels, DJing and the music industry. The lessons are practical and centred on your own music. We can work directly on your projects or build a track together from scratch. I am Lars, an international DJ and music producer with more than 25 years of experience. I have released music on labels including Golden Recordings, Mobilee, Nervous, Katermukke, Stil Vor Talent and Kittball, worked with Boris Dlugosch and Phil Fuldner, and produced remixes for Purple Disco Machine and Claptone. I have performed at venues and festivals including Watergate Berlin, Pacha Ibiza, Printworks London, Tomorrowland and Fusion Festival.
