I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Enfoque personalizado: Lo más importante es saber qué quieres lograr. Adaptaré las clases a tus necesidades: no es lo mismo tocar por placer en casa que preparar pruebas de acceso (aunque siempre con el mismo rigor). Tus objetivos influirán en la metodología, la organización del estudio, el repertorio...

Ambiente relajado (pero riguroso): Una vez definidas tus metas, las clases serán dinámicas y sin presiones. ¡Ojo! "Relajado" no significa poco exigente, solo que evitaremos métodos militares —sobre todo por mi carácter y sentido del humor—.

Música, no solo notas: Mis métodos son muy dinámicos, con especial énfasis en el oído y la musicalidad. Nada de "leer, tocar y pasar página". Evito enfoques obsesionados con la lectura de partituras sin memorizar, escuchar o entender lo que se toca. Quiero que seas dueño de tu interpretación y tomes decisiones artísticas. ¡Advertencia! Puede que hasta te haga cantar.

Sin barreras estilísticas: Gracias a mi formación en Jazz y Música Moderna, doy igual importancia a todos los géneros. Adaptándonos a tus gustos, pasaremos del barroco al blues, de Haydn al bebop... o incluso a Michael Jackson. ¿Por qué no?

I worked in a comprehensive school teaching music for over 35 years. In that time I engaged with many different exam boards at GCSE and A level delivering a range of different courses. Soy músico profesional y llevo más de 20 años impartiendo clases a alumnos de todas las edades. Mi experiencia como profesor y la búsqueda de auto superarme como músico, me han llevado a desarrollar un método eficaz que ya he probado con más de un centenar de alumnos.
A lo largo de mi carrera tuve la satisfacción de estudiar con grandes maestros de diferentes especialidades o estilos, cada uno enfatizaba en diferentes aspectos del flamencos, guitarra clásica o moderna y cada uno me ha dado su enfoque (técnica, ritmos, acompañamiento, armonía, etc.), lo que me ha llevado después de años de estudio y recopilación a sacar lo mejor de cada uno para conseguir desarrollar mi método.

Mi papel en mis clases más que de profesor es casi de entrenador personal, donde estará súper atento a sacar lo mejor de mis alumnos, buscar la técnica adecuada que ayude a tener soniquete, trabajar el ritmo, etc.
Para mi el papel de un profesor además de ensañar, es ser parte de un equipo de trabajo, para mantener la moral y auto superarse constantemente manteniendo siempre el amor por la música.

Metodología:
Las clases las oriento según el nivel, estilo o búsqueda del alumno/a, por lo general la primera mitad de la clase la dedicamos a estudiar la técnica, donde estará atento a la correcta colocación, ejecución, relajación que como resultado nos dará buen sonido, y sobre todo con el tiempo me di cuenta que también es una manera de conectar con la guitarra para concentrarse además de calentar. Así que poco a poco iremos escribiendo nuestra rutina donde ya estaremos trabajando aspectos básicos rítmicos.
La segunda mitad nos dedicamos a tocar tratando de poner en práctica lo que aprendimos de la técnica con los palos o estudiar otras inquietudes del alumno que puede ser algún tema, armonía, falsetas, improvisación, o incluso otros estilos, etc. siempre obviamente teniendo en cuenta la búsqueda o interés del alumno/a.

This class is designed for conservatory students, private candidates and advanced musicians who need solid guidance in harmony, counterpoint and fugue, especially in preparation for exams and auditions.

We work on written exercises, stylistic correction and analytical understanding, with a clear method and step-by-step feedback. Particular attention is given to Renaissance and Baroque practices (modal counterpoint, species, tonal counterpoint, fugue), helping students understand why rules exist, not just how to apply them.
