Trusted teacher: What does my Russian course look like? The structure of the course is well balanced. I include grammar and pronunciation techniques, also tips for better and quicker memorisation. I have developed my own course based on more than 10 years teaching experience, and I also supplement the lessons with published resources, videos and recorded conversations. My Russian course is based on high frequency vocabulary and grammatical structures. With the content that I developed, you can start using Russian words and phrases from the very first lesson. What makes my course unique is that you will be using Russian and hearing Russian throughout the whole course, and you won’t always have to translate Russian into English in order to learn new words and phrases. That’ll be possible because my course is based on the most up-to-date understanding of how we learn, how we memorise information and how we use language to communicate. I carefully selected teaching methodologies that will immerse you into the Russian sounds, words and grammar bits. In our sessions, we will be using body language, objects, pictures, videos, presentations, hands-on and digital interactive games to learn new material and most importantly to communicate, to get the message across in Russian. All lessons are very interactive: you will be saying Russian words, repeating after me, we will be role-playing short dialogues, and you will be building your grammar and vocabulary bank gradually. I’ll be giving a homework task after each session so that you can consolidate your learning. Completing each homework will be achievable as long as you schedule time in your calendar to do it. I will give you feedback on your homework every time. Some of my students started learning Russian with me from scratch and now can express themselves pretty well. It’s remarkable to see their progress and I want you to be confident Russian speakers too. I put a lot of emphasis on pronunciation, and you will be practising correct pronunciation from your very first lesson. It takes time to develop good habits, to develop the tongue muscle memory and to practise the right placement of the tongue in the mouth, but we will be practising in every lesson. Pronunciation techniques are embedded in each class, so along with vocabulary, grammar and communicative strategies, you will be learning pronunciation. How do I adapt content to your learning needs? I understand that your motivation to learn Russian will be different. Perhaps, you want to speak Russian with your friends or family members. Perhaps, you work with Russian speakers and would like to communicate with them in Russian. Perhaps, you are doing HSC or IB in Russian or another standardised test and need to get ready for it. You might be just in love with Russian art, literature and culture and learning the language is the way to gain a better understanding of the Russian traditions. Or you might already know several languages and you would like to learn Russian as well. If you are interested in Slavic languages in general, learning Russian could be a good way to get started, as Russian, Polish, Czech, Bulgarian and other Slavic languages share common characteristics. I will take into account your motivation to learn Russian and will adapt the lessons to suit your learning needs and future plans.

I started my lessons with Giorgia four months ago, and I am so glad to have found her. As a 26-year-old beginner, I was not sure if I should even try to pursue learning an instrument at this point. But now I am so glad I did! I am learning online, and I was a little unsure of how lessons via webcam would go. Despite my prejudice, everything turned out great, even though my setup is quite basic. Her approach to teaching is very creative. She is able to explain things that seem hard to put into words, and she always finds comparisons and descriptions that convey clearly little details of approach that make a lot of difference in the end result. For any difficulty I encountered, she presented methods of exercise that helped correct it. Another thing that I appreciate is that from one lesson to the next, the volume of work is challenging enough that I feel I am making progress, but not to the point that I am overwhelmed. Also, even though I am just beginning and the pieces are not that complex, she explains the musical interpretation in a way that not only helps me advance my skill but also enriches the way I understand and listen to music, and I find great value in that. Her manner of teaching is very organic, and she is a patient teacher with a warm presence. I wholeheartedly recommend her lessons!

There’s no overstating how important a role a teacher can play in one’s life. With the amount of time they spend with us, watching us grow into better professionals, the academic evolution and the foremost into more responsible human beings. Who truly knows how to tailor a programme to each individual student. In 3 weeks, I've grown from knowing close to no grammar to being able to form proper sentences for everyday use. One aspect I value a lot about her way of teaching is that we apply the grammar not only to every-day situations but also to topics that tailor to my personal life circumstances. I have been convinced that, with the help of Marina, I will be able to grow my Mandarin skills exponentially over the next few months.
