Through my experience as a secondary school teacher, I have come to realise that the acquirement of a language goes beyond just having another skill. Languages give students an opportunity to understand another culture and build respect and awareness as an individual. Equally, being an individual who enjoys immersing themselves in other cultures, I believe it is extremely beneficial to make use of out of classroom learning experiences, especially in language learning. I've completed my GCSEs a little over a year ago , I'm on here to fund myself in the future (primarily university) . I've averaged above an A (above grade 7) overall with recent experience and am still attending sixth form . Because of this I'll be able to easily relate to and figure out the needs of my tutee as I was in their position not too long ago . I myself studied based on topic rather than necessarily textbooks , this means that I can make due with any textbook or other material (this accounts for difference in exam boards). I can teach a concept from the ground up , or to solidify knowledge on topics as well as teach the basic principles for understanding the topic in the first place . I'm especially good at understanding and taking advantage of mark schemes to maximise grades , despite if the topic is completely unbeknownst to you . Though this seems minor , this tactic means you'll almost never score zero marks on a question . Ergo : if you can do half of the questions on a 100 mark test you'll get around 50 marks (high C to low B grade , grade 5 to 6) however even without understanding the rest it's easy to get at least another 15 marks up to around 25 (you usually cannot get over half marks without getting close to the answer , which is why half the remaining marks is a typical maximum) putting your grade up to to a minimum of a strong B or a maximum of a solid A (min of a grade 6 and max of grade 8) all of which requires minimal work which you won't forget . In English a similar thing can be done with punctuation , so long as you use a type of punctuation once ; you can score easy additional marks and get more marks on other criteria due to the examiner's bias . This is my forté .

In our first class, I will spend a little time asking about your needs, and what class you want to take, which allows me to find the right materials to make textbooks. I will design a course according to the needs of the students. Whether it is listening, speaking, or reading, I will make a textbook for you, so you can review it after class, which will make you progress quickly. If you have any questions during class or after class, please feel free to tell me. In the course of learning, I will use the example sentence instead of the explanation, so that you can clearly know the context in which the sentence can be used. You will have a textbook for each class, I will also give you homework after class if you want to practice more. You are also welcome to take a conversation with me. You can talk about any topic you are interested in, which will greatly enhance your conversational skills.

Summer courses for English as a Foreign Language focusing on grammar and speaking. Preparation for Life in the UK test - cultural and historical facts which will help you with the pub quiz besides worthier pursuits. For English I expect students to be literate and to be over 11 (age of secondary school admission in England). I don't tutor "groups". One-to-one is the mode of work, occasionally two in a class. You will be encouraged to develop your own academic or cultural interests (based on European culture) and do a presentation per class unless a test has priority. You will be writing a whole paper (IELTS) for each module as homework, paying particular attention to the written paper for graphs and charts and essay construction. Each lesson will involve revision of what was covered in the previous lesson. Learning by heart is encouraged!

English Literature is an extremely important and, for many students, compulsory part of education. This class is about improving the skills needed for close, thematic reading of both old and more contemporary texts. Using overarching themes found across literature, as well as giving suggestions for other relevant texts, this class aims not only to help pass any exams, but to also enrich your understanding and appreciation of the subject. Outside of exams, especially for any adults, this class can be a more freeform discussion of novels or poetry for anyone who wants to enjoy literature on a deeper level but isn't quite sure where to start or what avenues of thought to explore.
