I teach one to one singing lessons in person and online. Lessons are packed with all kinds of information: breathing technique and vocal warm-ups,, exploring a range of song repertoire, musicianship skills, confidence building, audition and exam preparation (for those who want to!) and most importantly, finding a real enjoyment of singing - all in a friendly and professional environment. I have run a successful singing teaching practice for adults and children in Cambridge since 2006, working with a wide variety of people and teaching a range of musical and vocal styles. I teach in person and online. I have an enhanced DBS certificate, public liability insurance and am a member of AOTOS (Association of Singing Teachers) and the Musicians' Union. I also have the NSPCC/Musicians Union 'Keeping Children Safe in Music' Child Protection certification. I have considerable experience in music education and community music both as a singing teacher and a vocal animateur. I have worked with people of all ages and abilities in both a workshop and one to one setting and have run projects, course and classes for music hubs, orchestras, disability and mental health organisations. I have led community singing projects for the Royal Opera, Opera North and English Touring Opera and international projects in Belize and India as well as leading a range of workshops from 'Find Your Voice' sessions to performance workshops in UK universities. As part of mid career CPD, I recently completed a two year course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as part of continuing my professional development - a Post-Graduate Certificate in Performance Teaching (Higher Education elective) and was made a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In Cambridge, I teach singing at The Perse School (Upper) and at St Catharine's College & Churchill College, University of Cambridge. I also run young choirs at the Centre for Young Musicians in Peterborough (PCYM), a division of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Trusted teacher: My name is Luke and I am a 24 year old, multi-award winning guitarist from Greenwich, London. I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and am adept at all varieties of guitar playing, including, classical, acoustic, electric and bass. Regarding my previous experience in tutoring, I have given 1000's of hours of guitar tuition both privately and in school settings. These experiences have given me a keen sense of how to motivate students and offer them concise and useful advice. I have worked at many excellent institutions in the past, including Streatham and Clapham Girls' School (one of the top private girls schools in the country), Orpington Music Studio, The Royal Arsenal School of Music and Canada Blanch Music Academy. I have found over my experiences of being taught and then eventually teaching that the best method for getting the most out of a student is to listen. If the tutor is acutely aware of where their student needs help and where they are already confident, they can tailor classes carefully to make the best use of the time allowed and to get the maximum potential out of them. This philosophy leads to classes being student-oriented, in that the student leads the tuition. The tutor acts as a supportive crutch, first working through problems together, then allowing them to explore it themselves with the tutor to lean back on. In my first years of training, like many others, I completed grades. Because of this I have a very good knowledge of what it takes to move along this system. However, the grade system should not be seen as the only way to learn an instrument. The same achievement can be gained through simple discussion between student and teacher and the correct prescription of pieces and studies to work on. I am more than happy to walk down whatever avenue they wish to explore. I would love to hear from you in the future. Thank you.

Study with award-winning pianist Gema, with individually tailored lessons to help you reach your goals🎹🌟 Graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music specialising in Music Education, Gema is a Spanish/Chinese pianist based in Manchester. She has experience teaching for 6 years to a wide range of students; whether you’re a beginner, young professional, preparing for exams, or just want to learn for fun. She has taught people of ages 2-53, believing it is never too late, or early, to start learning. When teaching children, she makes sure to always communicate with both parents and children so everyone is happy with the lessons. Gema has a wide experience teaching adults and is aware of the difficulties of learning a new skill while working full-time, so she makes sure to take each student’s personal circumstances into consideration when planning lessons. She has also taught three different languages: English, Spanish and Chinese, making her an ideal teacher if you want to improve your language skills while learning piano. She teaches classical and pop repertoire, both in person and online. She has also taught these genres as a mix, and even adding improvisation and jazz to it. Gema loves getting to understand her students and tailoring everything to their personal needs, so she always plans in advance and is open for a chat beforehand. She understands every student learns at a different pace, and will accommodate to your own pacing. She does not believe in following one single tutoring book through, and will give you enough resources to learn effectively and holistically, adjusting the learning curve to your needs. She believes in good communication and assertive conversations, so she will always listen to you if you don’t think something is working. She believes in a reflective and learner-centered approach, so you can be assured that YOU are the priority. Gema has successfully prepared all her ABRSM students to date and is able to teach Trinity, Rockschool and MTB syllabuses. She is also a piano teacher at a high school where she prepares GCSE students for their solo/ensemble performances. About her experience as a performer, she has won 20 prizes in competitions and performed in 9 different countries (Spain, UK, France, Netherlands, Latvia, United States, China, Korea and Switzerland). Recently, she won the RNCM Lucy Hale Award and the RNCM Clifford Hartley Award, the latter one for achieving the highest mark at the piano pedagogy course. To this day Gema is certain that her passion is teaching and helping students unlock their potential. Get in contact to start your journey now!
