Dear Music Students, I am an American guitarist, composer, and teacher from the US newly relocated to the Netherlands, based in Delft and offering music lessons at home in my living room and at my studio location in the Hague. I did my bachelor's in guitar performance at Berklee College of Music where I specialized in Jazz, and hold master's degrees from Yerevan State Conservatory and Royal Conservatoire Antwerp where I specialized in Composition and Electronic music. Since graduating at the Conservatory of Rome, teaching as well as performing has been one of my passions! I have been teaching piano for more than 8 years to students of all levels and age. I have experience with children, adults and also with students with different learning abilities. My students were always encouraged to take a step further and navigate through the world of piano under my guidance. My lessons are generally from half hour (for young children) to 1/1,5 hours. Depending on the level of the student, the lesson will include solfeggio and notions of musical theory, technique exercises and study of piano repertoire. My experience lies in classical piano repertoire, including Classicism, Baroque, Romanticism and Early Modern. I try to vary the program of my lessons and to choose the repertoire with the students, based on their taste and inclination. My teaching method is very structured and reflects the methodology taught in Conservatories, Music Academies and Universities. It is aimed at creating a solid basis to prepare for exams and auditions as well as giving the instruments for independent study. This type of method is of course suited also for amateur pianists too, who just want to play in their spare time - it will give them the opportunity to check their practice and receive relevant advice. Aside from the technique, participation, passion and fun are also fundamental! I pace each lesson to the needs and the preparation of the students, listen to their requests and choose with them the right path to follow. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

The course that I propose is BILINGUAL FRENCH / ENGLISH, as well as 2 BOOKS. Age and musical taste are not restrictive when in the program, you can with qualitative daily work (not quantitative) quickly observe your progress. Here the pleasure of playing music is put forward. Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres.
