Hi, I'm Sterre! In 2024 I got my bachelor's degree in classical piano at the conservatory in Rotterdam. I'm currently doing my master's degree at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen. I regularly give concerts, besides that I also really enjoy giving piano lessons to children and adults who are motivated to learn to play this instrument! I give piano lessons in Groningen. My passion for playing the piano started when I was 11 years old. I was staying with a friend who had a piano. At first I wasn't very interested, but by chance I had a piano app on my phone that allowed you to play the easy version of Für Elise and other pieces. Because I thought it would be more fun to play on a real piano, I sat down at it. I enjoyed it so much that I played the piano the rest of the day! Later I got a piano myself. I taught myself to read notes and the theory around it. I progressed very quickly, because within a year I was accepted to the preparatory course of the conservatory in Rotterdam. (Havo/Vwo for music and dance.) When I finished the preparatory course I continued with the Bachelor at the Rotterdam conservatory. At the moment I am studying in the first year of my Master. Piano lessons: First we discuss your goals with each other to see where you want to grow towards. I then adapt my lessons accordingly. Furthermore, I find it important to focus the lessons on the basic principles of piano playing. Notation, rhythmic skills and a good body and hand position. In addition, I find it very important to teach expression and musicality. But the most important thing is to have fun playing the piano! Anyone can learn to play the piano! From the age of 5 I also give piano lessons to children. I teach in a playful way to keep it interesting for children. I work with a nice lesson book with nice assignments and clear explanations.

Hi, my name is Sam. As an active church pianist for 20 years, with a Licentiate Diploma in Classical Piano and Degree in Contemporary Piano, I am confident to assist you in becoming the better church pianist you can be, bridging the information gaps that you may have. As you know, Church Piano accompaniment is extremely different from Classical Piano. Unfortunately traditional lessons do not provide enough answers to the many challenges in accompanying church congregation. In this lesson, you'll learn how to play chords beyond the basics, transition between songs, choosing the right key, applying the right accompaniment pattern, playing without music notations, etc. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Lessons include: 1. Active Aural Training This is not the usual "classical exam format" aural exercises but practical aural techniques I've learned from my years of stage performance. 2. Chords You will learn how to pick the right chords that harmonizes the melody and how to use them effectively. 3. Contemporary Accompaniment styles This includes my bread-and-butter accompaniment styles I use in playing solo piano accompaniment or keyboard in the worship band, and the knowledge I've accumulated over the past 18 years playing in church. 4. Arranging Techniques and Music Theory Music theory and Rhythmic studies provide all the tools you need to create the right accompaniment for any song, any mood, and any occasion. Suitable for Church Pianists of all levels! From Beginner to Experienced! Number of students: 1 per session Number of lessons: 4 lessons for each payment
