Trusted teacher: Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

I offer fully online piano lessons in English for teenagers and adults who want thoughtful, structured and serious musical training. My teaching is rooted in the Russian academic piano tradition, but the lessons are not limited to a narrow repertoire path. We can work with classical pieces or other music that is meaningful to the student — including modern, film, anime or jazz-oriented material — as long as the work remains serious, attentive and musically thoughtful. In my lessons, technique, reading, coordination, sound, rhythm, phrasing, memory and expression are connected into one clear musical system. The aim is not only to learn pieces, but to understand how music works from inside: how the ear, mind, hands, body and musical intention come together. I help students develop a deeper relationship with music as a living language — with direction, structure, breathing, sound, emotion and inner logic. The goal is for the student to play not mechanically, but with understanding, freedom, taste and personal expression. I work best with motivated students: serious teenagers, advanced amateurs, returning adults, and learners preparing demanding repertoire, auditions or international exams, including ABRSM. In every case, the focus is on building a complete musical foundation: technique, sound, understanding, expression and confident independent practice. I am a concert pianist and piano educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience. I studied at the Moscow Conservatory College and the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, taught at university level, performed internationally and recorded two CDs for Melodiya. The lessons are structured, precise and demanding, but clear and respectful. My aim is to help each student not only play better, but understand music more deeply and gradually become more independent, intelligent and artistic at the piano.

Trusted teacher: Welcome to my online Piano Class. I am Maria, and I will happily help you achieve your musical goals, from zero to the top. I love all student levels, but only towards the CLASSICAL piano, of any eras' works and composers. Don't be afraid, my lesson is human-friendly 😊 Everything goes step by step! Outside the lesson time, I send you lots of short videos to support your practice through the week. As each student is different, I focus on each ones' needs and I am always creative in helping you learn through the simplest ways - "if it's easy, it's correct", that's my motto! My greatest happiness is to watch my students grow, overcome any limit and expand in full potential! As a result, many of my students have won top prizes at major international competitions, as the IBLA Grand Prize, the Spoleto International Piano Competition, the Bach au Jazz (Lilia Boyadjieva) International Piano Competition and many others. And also, at renown online competitions, as The Royal, the IYMC, the Forte Academy, and many-many others. So, in case you need a competition or exam preparation, here you are at the right place! I will help you discover the advanced piano technique, and the ways to achieve your best musical interpretation. Also, very important, I'll help you understand and approach each composers' unique style, and, also, secure your concert / stage presence, with simple and effective solutions for memorisation and control. I am a very proud piano teacher, as on Jan 11 2026 four young students of mine were awarded by the renown American Competition "The Royal Foundation" and were invited and performed at a Gala at the Carnegie Hall in New York City! Also, these kids were invited to participate to the Juilliard School festival, with masterclass and lessons, a fabulous chance and experience that I wish all young pianists could have! On Sept 1st 2024 three awarded students of mine were invited to perform at The DiMenna Classical Centre of Music in Manhattan, from another American competition, the International Youth Music Competition. I wish I can always bring such great opportunities and successes to all of my "piano kids"!

After 4-5 months of learning piano with Maria, I owe her big gratitude. I decided to learn piano as an adult and Maria helped me to overcome my insecurities in music and motivated me to keep trying and practicing. She truly cares about the whole learning experience and uses amazing methods to guide me not only in improving my playing skills, but also my musicality. The piano classes with Maria are always inspiring and challenging, but not overwhelming. In each class, she corrects the techniques and accommodates exercises for practice accordingly. I am really satisfied with her dedication and feedback. I cannot recommend Maria highly enough. In her teaching, she uses the right dose of professionalism, friendliness, patience, and understanding. Her enthusiasm for the music is so contagious. Her lovely and passionate nature and energetic vibes simply make the class an enjoyable learning experience. I cannot wait for the next piano class with Maria. :)

I had my first lesson today and I was immediately struck with the feeling that I am in the presence of a maestro in Piano playing, a professor in teaching and an extremely patient pedagogue. It was like Lydia knew me for years and instantaneously detected my strengths and my weaknesses in my piano playing and practice. I am an adult student and I highly recommend Lydia for all ages and all levels. An exceptional teacher that provides and exceptional lesson experience.
