Heya! I'm Maria - a Romanian girl who was raised in the UK and who came to consider English as her mother tongue. Having said that, I had my own struggles whilst learning Spanish - I do know what it means to learn a language past childhood. Who these lessons are best suited for:
I teach right from beginner and get you up to B2 (A1 --> B2).
I have experience teaching adults, but I am open to adapting the teaching - in terms of vocabulary and context - for any age group.
Our classes will focus on listening and speaking, with vocabulary and verb tense sheets made for you to repeat and work on memorization and spelling after class. Given that, I'd recommend this more for people who wish to communicate naturally for travel, socializing or working rather than those looking for lectures that follow a textbook and solely target reading and writing.
I only ask that you be genuine about learning and to try to fight that urge to switch language the moment it gets hard - I am here to help you with that.

Lesson Structure:
In our first meeting, we will get to know each other and I aim to pinpoint whereabouts you are in terms of both comprehension and expression. Let me know if you have any goals in particular as if there is any particular context in which you aim to use English, I want to adapt my lessons to that. We can get into practicing as soon after and as much as you feel comfortable.
Subsequent lessons will be largely conversation and practice-based. Please don't worry if you know only a few words coming in! I believe in building confidence in speaking from day one as this tends to be what lags most behind and what takes the longest to develop and I want to help you do just that.
I will be providing prompts and real-life scenarios and letting the conversation flow from there for speaking and using comprehensible input (a technique that teaches you unfamiliar terms through familiar contexts) for listening.
I will help you fill any missing vocab or uncertainty in as you go along, where appropriate.
I will provide opportunities for active recall to help you retain these pointers.
I will take notes of these as we go and provide you with a full sheet of vocabulary, verb tenses, uses and examples of any phrasal verbs, idioms and slang, and grammar notes by the end of the following day.
Lessons are to be online or in a quiet café, library or park we agree on or a home-visit if you are close to the city center and would prefer.

Buen día, que lo que! Soy Maria - una chica rumana que creció en el Reino Unido. He llegado a considerar el inglés como mi lengua materna y al español como un segundo idioma muy cercano. Pero, igual, viendo como empecé el español a los 14, sí que entiendo lo difícil que es aprender un idioma cuando ya no eres niño. Quiero ayudarles a pasar de solo escuchar a conversar con confianza.

Para quién recomendaría estas lecciones:
Enseño desde el principio de principios y te ayudo a llegar al nivel intermedio alto (A1 al B2).
Cuento con experiencia enseñando a adultos, pero estoy abierta a cambiar mi forma de enseñar - en términos de vocabulario y contexto a otras edades también.
Lecciones se enfocan principalmente en las habilidades de comprensión y expresión oral, aunque crearé paginas personalizadas con el vocabulario y tiempos verbales después de la clase. Así que ... recomendaría esto más para personas que quieran comunicarse con otros de forma natural (sea para socializar, viajar o trabajar) que para aquellos buscando lecturas tradicionales o entrenamiento solo en lo que se trata de leer y escribir.

Plan/structura de las lecciones:
Nuestra primera lección la pasaremos conociendo el uno al otro y mi objetivo será averiguar tu nivel hablando, escuchando y de escribiendo. Hablaremos en inglés tanto como puedas desde el primero día, adaptando el porcentaje según te sientas cómodo.

Porfa, que no se preocupan incluso si solo hablen unas pocas palabras al empezar! Creo mucho en que hay que ir ganando confianza hablando desde el día nr.1 ya que este aspecto suele quedarse atrás y toma la mayor cantidad de tiempo para desarrollar y quiero mucho ayudarte hacer exactamente esto.
