Hello, I am 21 years old girl from Lithuania, living in Amsterdam, studying music. In Lithuania I was working as a kids music teacher. I was teaching some of them how to play flute and trumpet, also I finished piano so I was giving private piano lessons and also now I am studying jazz vocal so I also can teach vocal. I can also help with general music theory.

The lessons will delve into both the technical and musical aspects of piano playing, theory, reading music, harmony, ear training, technique, pedagogy and more. My aim is to equip students to understand different music styles, build confidence, discover their unique voice and continue their musical journey independently. As Thelonious Monk said, the piano ain’t got no wrong notes.

I'm passionate about traversing genres since I have studied both jazz and classical to a high level, making this class perfect for creative pianists and composers who want to go beyond reading music off a piece of paper. Trinity/ABRSM curriculum upto Grade 8, can also be optionally included. Teaching effective practice methods is a priority, ensuring students progress confidently and without leaning on me. Please note, I only teach in person to maintain high standards of guidance in technique. This is not possible via video conferencing. Since everyone asks: yes, I did study at Berklee College of Music as an undergraduate for some time, and I do help students out with their audition preparation for various music colleges!

My name is Bjørk and I’m a professional double bass player living and teaching here in Amsterdam. I have 2 diplomas in Jazz Bass from Sweden and a degree in Jazz Bass Performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

I love teaching and I have taught since 2016. And I love the bass!
I teach double bass, electric bass, composition, improvisation, band coaching/ensemble lessons and music theory. I have experience teaching complete beginners with zero prior musical knowledge to more advanced players, and in all age ranges: from 5 year olds to 74 year olds.

Every student is different and I always customize and adapt my lessons to your needs and your goals. And don’t worry if you’re not sure what those are yet, we can figure it out together! I teach cello to students of all ages and levels: from complete beginners to those preparing for conservatory auditions. My goal is to build your technique and musicality together, step by step, so that you're always challenged but never overwhelmed.

A typical lesson works on a mix of technique (posture, bow control, tone production), repertoire suited to your level and taste, and — if you want it — music theory and sight-reading. I'll set clear short-term goals with you each lesson and check in regularly on your progress, so you always know what you're working toward and why.

I have experience teaching students with dyslexia and ADHD, and I adjust my pacing and explanations so lessons stay clear and comfortable rather than stressful. If you're an absolute beginner, don't worry — I've taught people who've never held a cello before, and we start exactly where you are.

A bit about my background: I hold a Master of Music from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I studied under Ella van Poucke, and I graduated cum laude from the Conservatory and University of Thessaloniki. With my quartet, I won First Prize and the Young Jury Prize at the Storioni Festival Competition 2026, and I've performed at venues including Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
