History, Philosophy, Sociology, Classical Civilization

I am a passionate History, Sociology and Philosophy teacher (both ancient and modern). Fluent in Italian, Spanish and English I have taught History and Sociology in Madrid, Barcelona, North Italy and London. I can also teach Politics. Outside of the classroom, I have written and directed school plays, organized the school journals and the olympic games of philosophy.

My students are of differing ages and stages of proficiency, so I have plenty of experience teaching at all levels. I consider myself a friendly and patient teacher, concerned above all else with the all round development of my students' capacity for comprehensive thought. I have a strong belief in the unification of knowledge and am always striving to incorporate seemingly disparate branches of learning into a broader horizon in order to provide my students with a sufficiently complete picture.

Availability
The length and frequency of sessions can be determined by the student's requirements and availability.

The first lesson
For any given first session I like to get to know the student, find out where they're at in their course of study, and see what their current working methods are like. Usually, talking about the current piece of homework, the next upcoming exam, or due assignment is a great way to gauge their requirements, assess where my help is most needed, and thus collaboratively devise a joint programme of work.

My teaching method
I bring a broad-based interdisciplinary knowledge to a range of subjects. This allows the opportunity to consider new ideas and to place different perspectives in conversation with each other, which is an instrumental skill for improving academic writing.

A lesson with me will be interactive and lucid. I am adaptable as all students are different, so I will constantly monitor and remain attentive to our learning objectives.

My teaching methods vary, but as a rule I start with an in depth account of the subject, taking care to ground it contextually, and then proceed to a discussion of the main points. Whether the lessons take more of a dialogical form or the more typical lecture type format depends on the needs and preferences of the student.

The lessons will be focused on studying techniques, written exercises with supervision and recalling techniques. We will work not just to close any gaps but also help the student in learning how to optimize private study.

For students who need to get up to speed with content, I can offer sessions where I present you with ideas and new ways of understanding the topic.

I approach each topic according to the immediate and long-range needs of the student, whether they require help in comprehending their topic, in preparing for exams, or in planning, executing, and proofing written work. Depending on the desire and temperament of the student, I can gear my lessons either towards cramming and exam survival or towards the nurturing of lifelong learning.

My general policy is also to be flexible with what the student needs of me. For example, my payment is for the hour, however I am happy to look over work and send comments. My fee is not just one hour as I work with the student in all aspects of their learning via e-mails outside the lessons.

Pushing forward
If you're enthralled by your subject and wish to pursue it further, beyond the bounds of learning outcomes and assessment, then I can cultivate that passion in you. If you want to improve your critical or creative writing, I can help you articulate your vision and present it according to high standards; along the way I will instill good practices that will help you in any such task.

Historian. Political Scientist, and Journalist offering classes in History, Geography, and Social Sciences
I offer classes on History, Geography, and Political Science, with over 11 years' of experience in these subjects, both professionally and academically. I hold Bachelor's Degrees in both History and Political Science (from the University of Florida), as well as a Master's in Political Science, specifically European Politics (from KU Leuven). I have extensive experience in a wide range of historical and political subjects and have always had a keen interest in history and the social sciences. Additionally, previously I have been a journalist (dealing with Competition Law) and currently am an editor working on a wide variety of subjects for organizations such as the UNHCR and Goethe Institut, among others. I am capable of teaching and lecturing on numerous historical and political events and periods in history, with myself having specialized in European history, American history, African history, as well as the Medieval period and Antiquity.

Art and Politics: companion studies for A level and undergraduate Art History.
The class will chart the development of European, American and International art history from 1900 to the present day, beginning with Post-Impressionism and its off-springs Cubism and Expressionism, the move into Abstraction post-war, to Conceptualism and Minimalism of the 1960s and 1970s which still have significant relevance in today's Contemporary art world. The focus will be on the wider political issues that impacted art history of the time, thereby using art history as a novel and unique lens through which we can gauge world history events, and its politics, in a potentially new and interesting light.

History and geopolitics lessons. In first/final year
Learn the methodology in dissertation and document analysis from middle school as well as high school. This is what is present in History Geography and in the HGGSP specialty, and I offer courses aimed, in addition to helping the learning of courses in these subjects, to put it into practice in an exercise with a built methodology. It is this methodology that I teach, in order to provide the student with independence. I can also provide homework help in these classes, as well as re-explain and repeat poorly understood course points. As for speaking in public, it is necessary for the oral exams at the end of high school. I have been part of a debate group for 3 years and have acquired a certain mastery there. I am a student in high school, in the final year and I already have experience in helping with homework in my high school. I also chose the HGGSP specialty (geopolitics and political science) in second and I obtained my baccalaureate in this subject.

Economics, Mathematics, Geopolitics (Preparation for the BAC and grandes écoles)
Former student at Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. I have a Master's degree in applied economics and political economy. I have been teaching economics, mathematics, English and geopolitical history since 2019. I have had the opportunity to work with more than 70 students, ranging from 11 to 20 years old. I have prepared a large number of high school graduates for the SES and HGGSP specialties as well as for the grand oral. Whether in continuous monitoring during the year or in intensive training during the holidays, I organize the course in such a way as to work on my students' weak points. Finally, during this year I taught mathematics during group courses for the preparation of the brevet. Concerning languages: I am bilingual in English but I also have a current level in Spanish and an intermediate level in Japanese. I am able to teach economics and geopolitical history in English for students preparing for the baccalaureate in another language. Preferably I accompany students from middle school to BAC +2 on a regular basis in order to help them progress. I am also available for videoconference courses and intensive courses during the holidays. Methodology : The first lesson is crucial in order to determine the student's strengths and weaknesses. Once the assessment is done, I look for the best method to help them progress. Between lessons, I often leave additional work to consolidate the concepts seen in class and to evaluate progress. As soon as I feel that they are ready, I try to put them in exam conditions so that they can prepare for academic deadlines. The goal is to confront them with very demanding subjects early enough so that they acquire rigor and method. I initially focus on methodology issues. Once students are more comfortable with the form of the assignments, I insist on the quality of writing, syntax and understanding of the course. For students looking to improve, I offer them very demanding assignments and I try to push the course to a higher level so that they can have a better understanding of the concepts they are studying. Academic background : 2022 | Paris Sorbonne - Master of Economics 2020 | Paris Sorbonne - Bachelor of Economics Experiences: 2022 - Present | Intensive training professor (grandes écoles competition) 2019 - Present | Independent Teacher - Private Teacher
