This class will be entertaining and will require a student who is not afraid of challenging themselves and working hard.

I specialise in tutoring mathematics for both the GCSE and A-Level syllabuses, as most of my students require as such. I can also assist with Admissions tests revision, although this will be on more of an ad hoc basis due to the individual needs per the admission test. Each lesson shall: i) Reinforce knowledge previously acquired ii) provide new creative problems designed by myself for the students to explore mathematics in greater detail iii) Build the student's confidence in their mathematical ability.

You'll learn various mathematical methods for dealing with every day problems, in addition to gaining a focus and deeper understanding of the science the world's greatest minds have been trying to unravel for thousands of years. This is the class for you only if you truly want to get better at mathematics.

About Me

I'm a tutor who likes to commit to getting to know my students and their personalities so I can best tailor my methods to their tendencies- if they're determined and curious, I'll often describe a new problem that will require them to apply of knowledge they've learnt in a more creative way (thereby challenging them); if they're apprehensive and less motivated, I'll spend time with them showing the applications of maths and how this particular problem could be useful to them in their hobbies. My overall aim is for the students to be more confident and inquisitive about maths by the time they leave my class.

My philosophy, based on my experiences, is that if they end up enjoying the subject, the grades and intuition will come naturally- I've seen it enough times to know. I take great pleasure in getting to know all the different kinds of students that come through my door, but take greater pleasure in knowing they're that much more confident leaving than when they came in.

Education

First Class Honours in Mathematics and Statistics from Cardiff University- specialising in Game Theory, Applications & Mathematical Methods of Data Mining, as well as Stochastic Processes in Finance.

Experience / Qualifications

4 years tutoring experience, ranging from primary school children to GCSE sitters to degree students. I've also had experience teaching Maths to a larger group, teaching a class in an Italian school for a year.

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and have worked to support a range of needs for the last 4 years. I have developed a range of techniques to teach different areas and can adapt the learning to suit the learner. I aim to find areas of improvement in the learners and target these to make them feel challenged but also give them confidence in themselves and their methods. I will assign homework to the children based on prior learning as well as proved updated reports of how they are progressing.
I am able to cover all curriculum areas for Primary School and to teach within any age group up to 11. It it down to your preference.
