About Me

Catherine was born in 1996 in Donmatías, Colombia. From an early age, she developed a strong passion for classical music thanks to her father, a great lover of this art.
At the age of 12, she began to study the clarinet at the music school in her hometown. Subsequently, she became a clarinetist in the Harmony Orchestra of Donmatías, with which she participated in various competitions and festivals throughout the country.
In 2014, she began her graduate studies in music at the University of Antioquia (Medellín, Colombia), in the class of Professor Sandra Sánchez.
His love for chamber music led him to be part of several groups. His involvement in these ensembles allows him to participate in many festivals as well as the recording of Beethoven's Septet for Strings and Winds for the radio of the University of Antioquia.
Always motivated by challenges and pursuing her dream of perfecting herself in Europe as a clarinetist, she decided in 2017 to do an academic exchange at the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium) in the class of Professor Ronald van Spaendonck. Enriched by this experience, she decided to continue her studies in Belgium. In 2019, she obtained her Bachelor's degree in music: clarinet, and in 2022 she acquired her Master's degree in clarinet.
In recent years, she has joined several groups such as the Aria Orchestra (Belgium), BOENK-Brussels Young Philharmonic, the Amadeus Symphony Orchestra (Colombia), the UdeA Student Orchestra (Colombia), the Orchester of Harmony UdeA (Colombia), etc.
She is now a student in the second year of a didactic Master at the Royal Conservatory of Mons. She is also a clarinet teacher at the Cap sur la Musique music school. She is also invited to play with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra (BPhO).

As an experienced music teacher, I offer recorder and music theory lessons for children and adults of all ages and skill levels!

Originally from Brazil, I have been teaching music for several years. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, I have extensive experience as a music teacher, having given private lessons and taught in music academies in Belgium and elsewhere. If you are an advanced student or already possess a solid foundation in your instrument, I propose working on refining your technique, taking into account each repertoire. We will explore creativity and sound to produce an increasingly beautiful and eloquent musical expression.

Lessons can take place at the student's home or the teacher's home in Forest. Travel expenses are negotiable depending on the distance.

This class is aimed for children between the ages of 8-13 who would like to begin developing their vocal technique and find their own unique voice early whilst working in a group scenario. My Group Singing workshop is a mixture of improvisation and technique. Add to that the fun singing with other like-children and you’re looking at a contender for the highlight of your week!

This class is designed to build confidence and promote individual personal and social development and is taught in a fun yet disciplined way. With a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 6 students per class each student will have the opportunity to perform a solo song and also a group song each week with individual feed back and technique advice each week.
