Hello, I'm Elizabeth a highly experienced piano, clarinet and music teacher with eleven years school teaching and Head of Music experience. I provide online and in person (at home) tuition for piano and clarinet (beginner to advanced), and music theory (ABRSM), as well as coursework, exam preparation and general tuition for GCSE, A' Level, BTEC and UAL Music and Music Technology. I adore teaching and am passionate about music. I differentiate my teaching to ensure my students succeed and will work closely with you to ensure you progress and enjoy your lessons. As a musician I have worked as an accompanist and clarinettist as well as a music producer, and incorporate creativity and mindfulness into my daily practice. I received my PGCE (with OFSTED Outstanding in all categories) in 2009 and hold a Masters in Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music. I am an experienced 1-1 Music Teacher with a first class BA Hons from Newcastle University in Music, as well as an MMus in Jazz from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I've taught a variety of instruments including saxophone, clarinet, piano, singing and music theory, as well as helping with students academic work. I always tailor my lessons to fit the student and aim to find what their passion is and use that as the direction for lessons. I specialise in Saxophone and Clarinet lessons. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music, also flexible for flute and music theory lessons (ABRSM Grade 5 Theory Exam. My goal is not only to teach students, but to share an experience where they are able to explore and challenge themselves. Classes would be good for beginner or intermediate students. The focus would be to gain confidence learning and playing music - as a way to explore and be creative. Learning various styles of music from classical, to jazz and contemporary too. Having experience teaching children to young adults, you are never too late to pick up an instrument!

I studied on the Jazz course at Leeds College of Music for my undegraduate degree, and recently completed an MA in Performance at the School of Oriental and African Studies(University of London), achieving a distinction. As a musician I primarily play Folk/World Music/Jazz. However, I trained classically before atttending music college and am available to take students through classical grades/repertoire if desired. All ages and abilities are welcome, Trinity Guildhall/ ABRSM syllabus can be covered, I am also fully DBS checked.

With experience teaching all ages and abilities I aim to offer lessons tailored to you or your child that are clear, engaging and enjoyable! 😊 In COMPOSITION, I can give advice on a range of styles including: - contemporary classical music, using Sibelius software - electronic music production/Logic (any style) - Music for Film (theory / orchestration and using samples etc) In CLARINET we will focus on breathing and musicality as well as technical skill. I am also keen to encourage playing by ear and from memory as well as with printed music. In MUSIC THEORY I aim to find simple, practical solutions to help students in their understanding as well as relating the theory to well-known examples in classical and modern music.
