From September 2023 I will be teaching at the Conservatory of Maastricht in the Netherlands.

I am Thijs (30) an experienced drummer and musician, with a wide range of musical interests. Studying jazz drums under the wings of Lander Gyselinck at the KASK/Conservatory in Ghent. In addition, I have followed masterclasses and lessons from/with Joey Baron (US), Kendrick Scott (US), Corey Fonville (US) and Stéphane Galland (BE). I am also active in various bands/groups.

My lessons, depending on the level, focus on both the fundamental building blocks of drumming and music as a whole. These building blocks together with the student's interests form the curriculum, so that it meets the student's wishes as best as possible. I also teach music theory/music theory. Some aspects of this are also offered during drum lessons.

I have just finished 6 years of studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels during which I obtained a bachelor's degree in classical percussion as well as a bachelor's and a master's degree in jazz drums, notably following the teachings of Stéphane Galland (Aka Moon, Ibrahim Maalouf).
Teaching is an important part of my profession as a musician, I want to be able to share and pass on my knowledge as much as possible.

I give individual lessons by adapting as much as possible to the needs and desires of each student.
I organize my lessons in two equally important parts: the technical work and the music work. It is essential for me to develop a solid technical background while very quickly starting to apply it by playing pieces that the student will choose with me.
