Musical Theory for Graded Exams or as a supplement for School Music Lessons

* John studied music at the University of Oxford, which included world-class tutorials in composition and theory across a variety of genres. Having achieved distinction in his LTCL diploma in classical piano and grade 8+ in violin, he has taken numerous exams, for which a solid understanding of musical theory has been essential.

* This class is useful for anyone wishing to take ABRSM or other boards' theory exams, or as a supplement for anyone taking GCSE or A Level music. It is recommended, though not essential, to travel to John's house in the case that students do not have a piano or keyboard.

About Me

Having read music at the University of Oxford, John is now a freelance composer, performer of piano and keyboards, and teacher of theory and piano with a healthy dose of zeal for all things music. He is an accomplished classical pianist, having achieved a high distinction in his LTCL diploma recital, the culmination of several years of intense lessons and residential courses in London funded by the PianoMan scholarship. He received Grade 8 distinction on violin at the age of 14, going on to take it further at the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department during sixth form. He won the West Suffolk Young Musician Award on piano, and was a finalist on both instruments.

He has performed in a range of settings, such as Oxford's 02 Academy and Truck Fest with his jazz-electronic band Wandering Wires; at London's UBS Centre where he performed Mozart's Double Piano Concerto; and in many orchestras, including the National Children's Orchestra and the Oxford University Orchestra. He is also a keen jazz pianist, having founded a jazz-electronic quartet with whom he is currently touring, and has been twice accepted onto the National Youth Jazz Collective's summer schools.

He is a hardworking, patient and inspiring teacher who enjoys seeing his students make progress. He aims to be professional and relaxed, making sure students have fun, and are challenged to achieve the best that they are capable of. John has taught multiple instrumental and theory lessons, and likes to teach through a sufficient degree of repetition, making sure that students gain a solid grasp of any given principle before moving onto the next.

Piano Lessons with the Best Colombian Young Pianist!
Considered “Best Colombian Young Pianist 2018” after winning the first prize in the national piano competition in Colombia. I have a Master's degree from Liszt Ferenc in Budapest, Hungary, and a Master's degree from Columbus State University in the United States. Besides my career as a pianist, I have over 10 years of experience in teaching Piano, music theory, and history for all ages and categories. Even if you are a beginner we can make it! I have a personal method where I combine both classical and commercial repertoire depending on the student’s preferences. I usually play four hands with my students as well and organize at least one concert a year with all my students where they can meet and share their experiences. If you are an enthusiast about piano competitions, we can also work on that together. I will guide and support you through all the steps of the learning experience.

Learn Piano and Improvisation and practice other languages :)
The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. Once you have found them, it will be very hard to quit playing! The class duration: You can choose! 20 minutes (Great for the youngest : 3 years old) 30 minutes (Ideal for young beginners from 4 years old) 45 minutes (Intermediate+ adult beginners) 1 hour (Intermediate and combined with some Music Theory) I use different methods depending on: 1) The goals of my student 2) The language that we will use on class 3) Age and musical preferences: I start to teach children from 3 years old, we make games and they learn to play through musical stories that I have created throughout my pedagogical career.

Teaching music, solfege, piano and oriental and western music theories via the Internet and for all ages
Studies have shown that listening to music makes an individual feel happy, helps him regulate his emotions, and helps him relax, and studies have indicated that listening to music he likes or likes causes the brain to release a chemical called dopamine, which has positive effects on mood, and music helps to feel emotions. Strong, such as sadness, fear, and joy, music has the ability to improve mood and human health.[1] Improve verbal and visual skills Several studies have indicated that teaching music at an early age stimulates a child’s brain in several ways that help him improve communication skills, visual skills, and verbal skills. ; One study looked at children aged four to six years who were given musical training in rhythm, voice, and melody.

María
Music, violin, viola and musical language classes
I can teach viola classes at all levels, and violin to students up to the sixth of Professional Grade. I can also teach music theory at all levels and support the study of other subjects taught at the conservatory, such as music history, analysis, orchestra, chamber music, etc. I believe that the teacher must be able to adapt a lot to the student, and especially in music I find it very important to understand the sensitivity and difficulties of each student. I consider myself a demanding person, but very empathetic and patient. It is very important to me, apart from all the factors that affect the performance, to emphasize the care of the posture and the tensions of the body to avoid injuries that can be caused by playing the viola or the violin.

Louana
Private lessons of Piano and Solfeggio for Beginners / Intermediates
Hello, My name is Louana, I am 28 years old and am currently a piano teacher for students ranging from 4 to 65 years old. Indeed, I started very young music with first 2 years of rhythm then 5 years of Solfege Jacques-Dalcroze and finally 12 years of piano including 10 at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva. (each year of study being validated by exams & diplomas) Today I continue to play for fun and give some of my time to teach a few students once a week. Class sessions are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour as proposed by the Conservatory. I teach with my old scores which allows a gradual evolution step by step. Obviously, I remain attentive to everyone's wishes, but I particularly teach classical music because in my opinion, these are the best bases allowing you to play what you want. I am obviously at your disposal for any further information or to arrange an interview at your convenience. Best regards, Louana

Singing/Voice Lessons & Beginner Music Theory Lessons
I teach private singing lessons to children, teenagers, and adults in English (for now) and beginner music theory for all ages. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, I am teaching online only. There is no extra cost to the student and you don't have to leave the comfort of your home to have a fun time! I have 20 years experience as a performer and 10 years of teaching experience and have a passion for sharing music with others through music education. I believe that singing is a joyful expression of each unique voice and person. My teaching philosophy is to nurture students to have a fun and positive relationship with music no matter the level or age. My focus on a classical vocal technique gives the student a clear understanding of vocal technique, including: breathing techniques, pitch control, musicality and the knowledge to explore any genre of song. Basic music theory, rhythm, diction, sight-reading and ear training are also taught to the student to support a well rounded musical experience. I also teaches students how to practice, giving them the tools to feel confident in their own learning process. Absolute beginners are welcome! For online course, piano tracks are provided for you to sing along with during the lesson and we have a lot of fun together.
