I am an experienced female piano teacher who has been teaching piano to all age groups and abilities over the past 8 years. Enthusiastic about music and teaching and can teach both practical and theory. Exam prepraration also.
Qualified to teach all levels

Education

First class honours degree BEng Engineering from University of Ulster, Jordanstown.
ILM level 2 in leadership and team work.
Grammar school educated with 4 A levels

Private piano teacher for children and teens. I experienced a new method of teaching music and piano. It is a reversal of the old teaching method, because it focuses more on practice than theory.
It 'a method that focuses on the exploration of the keyboard. The student first gets confidence with the keyboard and then get to know the theory.

I specialize in teaching Piano and Music Theory to students of all ages and levels and tailor the program to suit every students needs. During lessons I focus on training my students understanding of musical language while giving them a solid technical skills. I believe in doing things right from the start. Repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary music depending on students preferences and interests.

I have played piano for more than a third of my life and have experience playing classical piano, jazz piano and popular music. I perform regularly both with groups and solo.
My experience with classical music comes from my grades with the Royal Irish Academy of music where I have achieved honours in grade 8 as well as a personal interest in classical music.
I was a student of Kinsale local Billy Crosbie's who introduced me to jazz piano and I have been playing and learning about jazz ever since. Through this love for jazz I also began playing the saxophone to enhance my understanding of jazz music. I am currently studying post grade 8 jazz piano in CSM.
I have performed popular music in Westfield, San Fransisco and locally in Cork, I play a wide variety of tunes, from Billy Joel to movie themes and classics such as Hallelujah. My teaching method encourages trying out multiple genres to enhance students awareness of music and to help students learn different techniques of learning tunes such as sight reading, comping and playing by ear.
