I have been teaching since 2020. Throughout this time I have been teaching pupils from 7 till 17 years old. In my lesson we not only explore Mandarin as a language but we also learn about culture,how characters were created and what kind of festivals Chinese people celebrate till nowadays.

About Me

Originally I’m from Latvia! My native language is Russian and when I finished high school I have decided to start my bachelor in England,Portsmouth. I have finished Bachelor degree of Arts and started my PGCE journey. Now I am fully qualified Mandarin teacher :) I also hold TESOL certificate and can help to level up your English if it isn’t your furs native language! I have been teaching since 2020 and enjoyed it a lot!

This class is designed for Scottish High school students, ranging from National 5 to Advanced Higher level, and offers support with how to approach textual analysis, essay writing skills, proofreading, and exam techniques so that your ideas can be conveyed in the best way possible.
I have a first-class MA undergraduate in English literature from the University of Edinburgh, so am up to date with contemporary literary theory and debates. Furthermore, I sat the Scottish National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher English exams myself, and achieved A's, as recently as 2018 so I have an understanding of what the courses entail.
I have tutored privately for three years, and am available in person and over Zoom. My approach to teaching English is a collaborative one, allowing for an open discussion of your aims and needs. Utopian Studies extends the notion from Thomas More's Utopia to the emergence of dystopian literature, highlighting the connection between fictionalized literary works and reality. The seminar is designed for students with advanced reading skills as the primary readings are mainly novels. Students are expected to carry out individual research.
