English SL and Higher Level for the International Baccalaureate is a rigorous course, especially for ESL students. I completed the IB with HL English and received a 7 (highest mark) in my final exam. I will be able to go over both Standard Level and Higher Level syllabuses for the course specific to the material covered in your school, and prepare you for mock and final exams. I will include essay writing skills, literary criticism and analysis, as well as vocabulary expansion techniques in my teaching. A brief overview of the key features of English SL/HL as set by the International Baccalaureate Organisation: • Higher level study requires a minimum of 240 class hours, while standard level study requires a minimum of 150 class hours • Students study 13 works at higher level and 9 works at standard level from a representative selection of literary forms, periods and places • Students develop the ability to engage in close, detailed analysis of literary works, building understanding of the techniques involved in literary criticism • The study of literary works in context is emphasised, and through the study of literature in translation the student is challenged to reflect on the role of cultural assumptions in interpretation • Students are assessed through a combination of formal examination and oral and written coursework. • The formal examination comprises two essay papers, one requiring the analysis of a passage of unseen literary text, and the other comparative response to a question based on two works studied • Students also perform an oral activity presenting their analysis of two works studied • HL students comply with an additional written coursework requirement which consists of writing a 1200 - 1500 word essay on one of the works studied

I am a professional musician and educator, with international experience as a Violin/Viola/ Chamber Music/Theory teacher, soloist, orchestra leader, chamber musician, and jury member. I have graduated in Violin at the Conservatory of Music "G.P. da Palestrina" of Cagliari- Italy and in Viola at the Conservatory of Music "G. Verdi" of Milan-Italy. My professional activity led me to work in several orchestras as performer, and in various music schools as upper- string and chamber music teacher. I lived and worked in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and since 2012 I made London my home, where I developed further teaching experience within the British system. I have also founded "The Geminiani Project" of which I am the director and the leader of the Camerata Geminiani, ensemble that has been invited to perform in England, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden. At the same time I have established my ensemble, I have also launched the Geminiani Youth Orchestra (formed by young musicians aged 6 to 17 years old) as I believe in the importance of giving an opportunity to young players to perform together, and the amateur ensemble Hampton Chamber Orchestra; we performed with both orchestras at various venues in London. Regarding my teaching technique, I believe that each student is different and unique, so the first thing I try to do is to establish a connection, then I try to understand the major skills and major difficulties of the student in order to develop a personalised system; I pay much importance also to the emotional aspect the student is dealing with in order to build passion and love for music. I strongly believe that, once achieved a technical skill, the student must have the chance to play with the teacher and with other students, and feel the excitement of making music together. I have experience in preparing students for auditions, competitions, or ABRSM/Trinity exams with excellent results; I love what I do and I love to see my pupils achieving high level results. In my class, you will learn the foundations behind creating a great song including: Songwriting forms and structure in all genres, music theory and understanding chord progressions and modes, breaking music theory conventions in order to create a unique sound, great songwriting tools to help with 'writers block', performance coaching and how to convey your songs message on stage as well as all things music industry, including the importance of copyright and how to protect your songs. My students will be working with me on constructing songs as beginners and my more experienced songwriting students will work with professional music industry briefs that I will provide. Students will be able to write songs comfortably and autonomously after only a handful of lessons with me.

I've completed my GCSEs a little over a year ago , I'm on here to fund myself in the future (primarily university) . I've averaged above an A (above grade 7) overall with recent experience and am still attending sixth form . Because of this I'll be able to easily relate to and figure out the needs of my tutee as I was in their position not too long ago . I myself studied based on topic rather than necessarily textbooks , this means that I can make due with any textbook or other material (this accounts for difference in exam boards). I can teach a concept from the ground up , or to solidify knowledge on topics as well as teach the basic principles for understanding the topic in the first place . I'm especially good at understanding and taking advantage of mark schemes to maximise grades , despite if the topic is completely unbeknownst to you . Though this seems minor , this tactic means you'll almost never score zero marks on a question . Ergo : if you can do half of the questions on a 100 mark test you'll get around 50 marks (high C to low B grade , grade 5 to 6) however even without understanding the rest it's easy to get at least another 15 marks up to around 25 (you usually cannot get over half marks without getting close to the answer , which is why half the remaining marks is a typical maximum) putting your grade up to to a minimum of a strong B or a maximum of a solid A (min of a grade 6 and max of grade 8) all of which requires minimal work which you won't forget . In English a similar thing can be done with punctuation , so long as you use a type of punctuation once ; you can score easy additional marks and get more marks on other criteria due to the examiner's bias . This is my forté .

Hello Everyone, I was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia and moved to the UK in 2018. At my classes I love coaching my students through talking to them about interesting topics and setting challenging tasks and ambitious goals for them. I really enjoy setting stretching targets for my students and helping them achieve their goals whether it is working abroad, moving to a Russian-speaking country or exams. The most important thing for me as a teacher is to see my students speak. When we do speaking exercises, I usually write my students’ mistakes down in order to discuss them later. This way of correcting mistakes makes my students more relaxed because they are not interrupted while they are speaking.
