About Me

Education

I started classical piano at the age of 7 with private teachers.
I entered the academy at the age of 8. I did my entire education there and at the same time I became interested in jazz, initially listening to Ray Charles.
I was very attached to the music but also to the spirit of jazz. So I did a year of preparation at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp, just after high school. I took the conservatory entrance exam after that, which I failed 2x. But I refused this double failure so I continued private lessons throughout the summer with a former conservatory student. After that I applied and was accepted then I did my 5 years of conservatory and I graduated with distinction. Moral of the story? Persist for what makes us tick. In my case it's music :)

Composer and experienced piano teacher David is offering piano lessons for all ages, - particularly interested in new adult students. Complete beginners through to advanced. With over 12 years teaching experience, David's lessons can be tailored to all objectives – with a focus on imparting an understanding of music as a deep language, and on developing a sensitive and powerful technique. In addition to classical piano and, music theory, David can also help you explore simple approaches to begin composing if you with to explore your creative talents. Alternatively, lessons can be approached as therapy (in a non formal sense) and leisure. I am Natalia, a pianist, composer, and music teacher. Music plays a central role in my life and forms the basis of everything I do: playing, creating, and teaching.

At the piano, I constantly discover and develop new musical ideas. Composing music is a natural way for me to express feelings, atmosphere, and stories. Sometimes a composition originates from a small motif or a simple melody that slowly develops into a complete piece of music. My inspiration comes from various sources: life, emotions, nature, films, stories, and moments of silence in which music can arise spontaneously.

My music moves between various styles, with a strong emphasis on melody, atmosphere, and emotion. The foundation often lies in the piano sound, but the musical language I use can contain classical influences as well as modern, cinematic, or popular elements. I love music that evokes images and tells a story, as if the listener can feel a scene or a world simply by listening.

In addition to composing, I also share my musical experience as a music teacher. In my piano lessons, I want to teach students not only how to play notes, but also how to understand, interpret, and experience music. For me, learning music is a process in which technique, listening, creativity, and expression come together. Therefore, in my lessons, I pay attention to musicality, interpretation, and developing a personal musical voice.

My experience as a composer also influences my teaching style.
