About Me
Yaroslav is a Ukrainian pianist, born on 7 September 2000 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He began studying music at the age of six and graduated from the Glier Academy of Music in Kyiv under the tutelage of Tatiana Pivovarova and later from the Peter Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music of Ukraine, studying with Tetiana Roshchyna.
During his studies in Kyiv, Yaroslav achieved notable success in competitions, including winning First Prize at the KyivSmartPiano International Piano Competition 2021 and Third Prize at the Ivan Karabits Piano Competition 2020. He also gained recognition at the Modern Music Workshop 2021 (Second Prize) and participated in masterclasses with prominent musicians such as Polina Sasko (Austria), Vadim Gladkov (Spain), and Oleksandr Leonov (Switzerland).
Since April 2022, Yaroslav has been living in Brussels, Belgium, after leaving Ukraine due to the Russian invasion. In Belgium, he earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp under Nicolaas Kende and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree. Since March 2024, he has also been studying with the renowned Professor Victor Makarov.
Yaroslav’s dedication to his craft is evident in his recent achievements, including First Prizes at Merci Maestro! 2022, Le Concours de Piano Andrée Charlier 2023, and EPTA Belgium 2023. In addition to competitions, Yaroslav has refined his artistry through masterclasses with world-renowned pianists such as Eliso Virsaladze, Jean Bernard Pommier, Andrzej Jasinski, Daniel Blumenthal, and Dmitry Alexeev.
Yaroslav has played extensively in Belgium, Poland, Germany, Italy, France, and Ukraine, often dedicating his performances to charitable causes supporting his homeland. His artistry and resilience have made him a sought-after performer, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles.
