About Me

My name is Veerle and I have been a specialized translator in English and Dutch for over 13 years. In addition to this, I have been teaching students who need help with their English, Dutch or French for over 10 years and I have several clients that I am teaching English to. Sometimes they have no basis whatsoever and we start from scratch, sometimes these are professionals who want to upgrade their English or Dutch or need it for their work and international relations.

For students in secondary or higher studies, we specifically look at what they need, where the pain points are and how much time we have. Unfortunately, action is often not taken until just before the exams, or at the end of the deadline for a thesis or thesis, which means that the time span is very tight. We always do our best to explain everything in a thorough, yet calm way in a timely manner. The goal is for the student to be able to use it later on. I don't put band-aids on open wounds as a temporary fix; the student must gain confidence in what they have learned.

What do I expect from the student? Very little, outside of sincere commitment, that they ask me if something is not clear (this can be as often as necessary, I will always try to explain it in a different or clearer way) and that they let me know afterwards if they have passed. It is great to see how my students keep growing; both their confidence and their results.

Competitions may always be sent to Apprentus without obligation, together with a brief explanation of the problem and possible availability.

Because of Corona, lessons can also continue online, although I still prefer the personal approach - then a mouth mask is of course an ideal solution.

We have had lessons from Hans for a total of 3 years. During Hans lessons, you do not only learn what the theory is or how the assignment works, but also how to apply it yourself. He does this by looking at the material in his own unique way, which gives you a better view of the theory. As a result, we both went from a 6 on average to an 8.
