Trusted teacher: Hi there, My name is Gaizka, Spanish and Basque are my mother tongues. I spent 9 years in the UK and I took my degree - See profile photo - in Edinburgh last summer. My approach to teaching is pragmatic and sympathetic. I understand your struggle because I lived that struggle for a long time when I moved to the UK in 2009. My main interest is to make you feel confident with what you know and see how much you can stretch that knowledge in real life communication. And then we grow and improve from there. You learn a language to communicate. You say something and you get a reply. You are understood and you understand. That is the only thing that matters, that you can use what you know and communicate more and better as you learn. I will adapt my lessons to your need and your preferred lesson/learning style with strong focus on growing your confidence with the language. All can be discussed via Apprentus or on the first day.
My career has included positions in many areas of education and business. I thus have experience of dealing with people, problems, working under pressure and deadlines and making important decisions. I have also gained extensive experience and expertise of working with people of different age ranges, abilities, attitudes, aspirations and cultures. I am aware of the specific requirements, high standards of service, knowledge, application of theory and personal commitment required for this post and have achieved successful results in projects including pre sessional business courses at the universities of Durham, Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt, St. Andrews and Leicester and in educational consultancy contracts with numerous multinational companies, institutions and private clients in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, through group and one-to-one sessions, tutorials, seminars, lectures, VLE and VOIP applications.
I provide a high standard of teaching in Modern Studies at Standard Grade, National 4, National 5, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Higher level. I aim to keep my students engaged in the subject and help them achieve their potential. I will base the level of homework on the student's ability and will provide regular progress reports.

Trusted teacher: In September I moved from Germany to Glasgow to do my Masters in Research Methods in Psychology at Strathclyde University. I started tutoring 6 years ago helping out at my mother's school in Germany school teaching German and Maths. If you're struggling with statistics (including SPSS, R, and Stata), then feel free to send me a message.:) In the first lesson, I try to identify which difficulties the students have and we set a goal together that we want to achieve (e.g. getting a higher mark on an exam, improving pronounciation). I then base the lessons on class materials and use my own exercises to practice. Just ask when I'm available-I do have some lectures but I'm very flexible.

I am a native Italian speaker studying Geography at the University of Glasgow. I have recently done an International Exchange at the University of Toronto. However, my real passion is teaching my language. This is my third year tutoring. I have done both online and face-to-face lessons, teaching Italian and English. In Glasgow, I work as an Italian tutor, teaching my language to students from different nationalities and with any sort of backgrounds and needs. In Canada, I continued teaching, working online. I also have a classical background. Studying Latin and Ancient Greek for five years at Liceo Classico (high school), I learnt grammar and acquired a deep knowledge of classical literature and culture. I am enthusiastic about sharing what I know and about having friendly relationships with students. In the past years, I volunteered in a primary school (Scuola Primaria Villaggio Lamarmora, Biella, Italy) and I worked as the assistant of the teacher in drama courses for children at ‘Opificio dell’arte’ (Biella, Italy). In 2017 I volunteered in a mission in Peñas, Bolivia, teaching Maths to local students. In Rome in 2019 I worked as a volunteer Italian and English teacher for foreigners. These experiences taught me to understand the different needs of students, both younger and older. I really like helping people and learning something from them! I also enjoy studying languages myself: I speak Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese, and I am studying French and German. Therefore, I understand what people can find difficult both in grammar and in conversation.

I have a degree in Spanish Philology and I also have a Master of Education. Now, I'm working in a high school near Glasgow as Spanish Language Assistant, so i'm getting very familiar with the secondary exams like Nat5, Highers or Advance Highers, and that could be very useful if you're searching a tutor especially for that. I have also been a Language and Literature private tutor in Spain. I'm used to adapt my teaching methodology to each different pupil and we can work specifically only in the fields that the student finds the most difficult. The first lesson can be a first contact to see and to evaluate the needs of the student. We can look at what the pupil has been doing until now and specify which skills need to be trained.
