About Me

I am a writer, copy editor and former full-time teacher; I decided to retire from full-time teaching in order to spend more time with my two little girls, but tutoring allows me to continue to use my skills to assist others.

When not teaching or copy editing, I read and play with my daughters here in Den Haag, write literature for pleasure, and read the most challenging thing within my hand's grasp.

I am Laura , a Spanish woman living in The Hague. I have been teaching and helping high school students with their homework and study methods since 2014 as a private tutor. I have experience as a language teacher in different schools in Madrid (extracurricular activities) for children between 3 and 10 years old. I work as a Spanish teacher since 2019 in various countries, helping numerous students to improve their speaking, listening and writing skills.

I studied Nutrition and Dietetics (4 years bachelor) at Complutense University of Madrid. Later and determined by my love for languages, I completed the BA in Linguistics in Leiden University, following the Brain and Cognition specialization, which focuses in how language and second languages learning works in a neural level.

Depending on the goal, the learning or lesson method is different. Normally, the first day I meet the student and we talk about what he or she expects and the topics we need to pay more attention. From that, I organise and structure a learning plan for reaching the desired goals (listening, speaking, writing, etc) or level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).

I am a French and English tutor. I was born and raised in France consequently it is my mother tongue. However, I lived in England for 3 years and therefore I am fluent in English. Additionally, in England I studied law and therefore I have a solid knowledge of legal English that allows me to share my knowledge with my students.

I believe the best way to learn a language and progress is by practicing it first, orally, through formal or informal conversations and then balancing this out with practicing one's writing skills.
