About Me

During my training, I had the opportunity to study with illustrious teachers with whom I was able to discover different violin techniques and different pedagogical approaches, which allowed me to create my own methodology. If Italy gave me a passion for sharing and communication (a typically Italian characteristic), Belgium taught me to convey a message, an idea in a concrete way. My meeting with Mr Ilya Grubert, Mr Shirly Laub and Mr Lawson made me aware of the importance in the life of an artist to share his knowledge, and teaching is for me the most beautiful way to put this sharing into practice.
I use a method according to the student: what is always central is the sound and the transmission of an emotion, even with a simple piece or a study. Technique and posture are also important in my teaching, and I strive to find, for each student and step by step, a way of playing that is as healthy as possible.
Also pursuing activities as a professional musician, I nevertheless have at heart that learning and pedagogy are part of my daily life, and I envisage with both a lot of seriousness and a lot of pleasure the work with the students and the transmission of musical knowledge.

Education

Gabriele born in Padua in 1995, graduated with highest honors at the "A. Steffani" Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto where he also obtained the "Zambon" prize in 2017 as best student.
Settled in Belgium since 2017, between 2019 and 2021 he obtained the “Master in violin” and the “Master specialized in violin” with Grand Distinction, by studying at the Royal Conservatory of Mons Arts2 and at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Shirly Laub, Eliot Lawson, Wibert Aerts and Frederic d'Ursel.
During his training, Gabriele also studied with Ilya Grubert and Stefano Pagliani at the Fondazione Musicale Santa Cecilia in Italy, Elina Vahala at the Hochschule Fur Musik Karlsruhe and took masterclasses with Elisabeth Perry, Ivry Gitlis, Igor Volochine, Vineta Sareika, Kati Sebestyén, Chouchane Sironossian and Nana Kawamura and chamber music with Muhiddin Dürrüoğlu, Enrico Bronzi and Filippo Faes.

He has collaborated with several orchestras: in Belgium the Philharmonic Orchestra Flanders, and Boho Strings Orchestra in Antwerp, the Ataneres Ensemble in Louvain, the Chapelle Musicale de Tournai in Tournai, the Assai Symphonia in Hasselt; in Italy the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto OPV in Padua, the Orchestra d'archi Italiani ODAI and the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico OTO in Vicenza.
Since March 2022, he has been an assistant violinist in the “Belgian National Orchestra BNO” in the premiere violon tutti.

In 2018 Gabriele won the audition for the Jeugd Antwerp Simphony Orchestra (ASOJ) and for the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest (NJO); in 2019 he won the audition for European Union Youth Orchestra (Euyo) and Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza (OTO) and also the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since 2018, he has been very involved in the chamber music repertoire, playing with pianists Julien Lejeune and Marco Mantovani. Focused on the Franco-Belgian repertoire and the Italian repertoire of the beginning of the 20th century (Busoni, Fano, Dallapiccola, Respighi) he has performed at the Arsonic in Mons, Atelier Marcel Hastir and Art Base in Brussels or at the Academia Belgica de la Villa Borghese in Rome, and was a finalist in the competition organized by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation "Generation Classique 2021".
In October 2021 he also won the “Giovanni Guglielmo" prize in Padua in duo with pianist Marco Mantovani.

Passionate about teaching and didactics, he specialized at the Royal Conservatory of Mons Arts2 and in 2021 he obtained the Agregation diploma with Distinction. Since October 2021, he has been teaching the violin as part of the El Sistema project organized by the Asbl ReMuA in Brussels.
Gabriele also studied at the University of Padua in the Faculty of History and Musicology.

The course method, inspired by the Agostini school (French method used in French and Belgian academies and conservatories) is divided between technique and drums. At the rate of one session each we will focus once on technique and movements outside the drums (on pads) and the other time on the drums and the application of technique and movements.

-> The technique lessons and the movements will be those of the so-called 'Moeller technique' that I learned through his direct lineage of student.
-> The drum lessons are greatly inspired by the pedagogy of the M.A.I. (Music Academy International - Nancy (fr)) and in particular that of Richard-Paul Morellini, renowned instructor.

The courses are complete, in-depth but above all specifically thought of to be progressive. They are suitable for children from 7 years old as well as adults of all ages.

=> Particular attention is paid to the movements and their correct application, to the total independence of the limbs and finally to an understanding of the rhythm and its theory. My main goal is to give the student complete control behind the drums and skills to be able to self-learn any piece in any musical style. 1 hour of weekly lessons are never enough, they should only be used to fuel the passion that will make you play at home more and more.

On demand or for advancs students:
- I am very passionate about the study of South American rhythms. Due to their complexity, apart from the samba and Baïon ostinatos, they are not included in the program before the advanced level. They can be at the request of the student.
- I am also specialized in metal (musical style) and double pedal. The latter is not included in the program unless requested by the student. The double pedal courses are based on the methodology of Virgil Donati.
