Drawing, Painting and Colour studies lesson for beginners, students, adults and art enthusiast

I am a painter, weaver and researcher currently doing a PhD in textile research for trauma recovery.

For the past two years I have been on The Clothworkers Company of Weavers Award - developing my artistic practice at Cockpit Arts, London’s leading studios for contemporary crafts and the UK’s only business incubators for makers and designers.

In 2019, I graduated from an MA in Weave at the Royal College of Art. Since them, I have been mentoring students with building their portfolio and undertake research. Alongside my practice, I also teach drawing and painting for all levels. Painting is an expression of a state of mind, emotions and sensations. With the right tools and skills, it can become your language. I help my students building their aesthetic and gain confidence whether it is for leisure or professional purposes.

I sell my work on the online platform Zatista and have given talks on textile and mental health at the Craft Council.
I am also part of a research project with the Craft Council and Creative Europe.

About Me

I did my undergrad in Textile for Fashion which was followed by a short career in Fashion. I worked for designers including Alice Temperley, Jasper Conran and Alexander Wang in New York.

In 2017 I undertook an MA in Weave at the Royal College of Art. On the side of my studies, I was teaching Art and Crafts for children and adults. After graduating in 2019, I won The Clothworkers Company Award and join the Cockpit Arts community of Makers. There I developed my research textiles alongside my paintings.
I was then involved in mentoring students with developing their portfolio and their skills in drawing and painting for research purposes in Textiles.

I started selling my paintings in 2020 both on the online platform Zatista and from word of mouth. I gave talks with the Craft Council in 2021 and am currently working for a research program with them as well. I am starting a PhD this coming September.

Dot mandala painting class to learn how to create unique designs on canvas and other media
I suggest an art therapy session to disconnect you from the stress of everyday life; and immerse yourself in meditative art. The technique of dot-painting or point painting is an artistic activity recognized for its anti-stress virtues. It is an art accessible to all that allows you to nurture your creative side, improve self-confidence, and which also helps develop communication and exchanges. Just like during a yoga or meditation practice; we return our attention to the present moment, to what our body and our mind are doing, we observe and feel our sensations at the moment T without analyzes or judgments; we just refocus. You have understood it: it is about eliminating positive thoughts and welcoming new and colorful energies! The choice of colors and patterns allows the mind to refocus and forget the worries of everyday life.

Drawing lessons: comic, cartoon, manga, any style and level
The classes are completely practical, focused on whatever the student requires. The first class is to establish the pupil's level, giving him or her some information and advice and proposing a few exercises to practice. From the second class, we start correcting the exercises from the last session, adding new information, and proposing more exercises. Learning how to draw is not easy, but this method is the most comfortable way. Moreover, we start drawing whatever the pupil wants, which motivates him/her to continue drawing. The lessons can be about character design, anatomy, perspective, backgrounds, line art, color, storytelling, comics, and illustration. It can be traditional, digital, or both.

Learn how to draw: If you can See, you can Draw :-)
A lot of people think they cannot draw. But before drawing, it is about "seeing". Actually if you can see, you can draw. Not only objects, but portraits, animals, whatever you want. By developing the aptitude of observing the reality using the right part of your brain, you learn how to draw what you really see instead of drawing what you think you already know about this reality. This technique was a revelation as it allowed me to progress quickly when I was young. It's on this base that I will help you to learn another way of looking at things around you and show you some tricks to overcome difficulties as perspective, foreshorten,...

Marylene
Professional storyboarder gives 2D animation courses, drawing, portfolio, cinema and storyboard / preparation for animation schools
Hello, Let me introduce myself, Marylène, professional storyboarder, graduated in animation cinema. I offer serious drawing lessons adapted to the level of the student, from the beginner to the young professional through the animation student. During the first lesson, we will talk about the student's expectations and set the artistic objectives by defining a personalized program. I would assess the level of the student, his strengths and weaknesses for a tailor-made course, taking into account to nourish his universe and his sensitivities with a background both cultural and technical. I teach both the basics of solid drawing to beginners (perspective, proportion, composition, volume, anatomy, gesture, posing, principles of animation ...) as well as to students / future students in animation cinema, to young professionals who want to specialize in storyboard or who have questions about how to develop a TV pitch. For the storyboard part, my specialty, I will teach the basics of cinematographic language (types of framing, transitions, camera movement ...) and I will follow with basic exercises to be able to make parts of portfolio. Indeed, I can also support the student for the realization of a portfolio / demoreel for animation schools. I could guide him to feed and build his book taking into account the expectations of schools and studios. I travel to Lyon for a travel fee, and also give online lessons via Webcam and screen sharing on Skype. Students will have free follow-up by phone, email, whatapps or facebook as well as personalized feedback on the exercises. My teaching areas: - Academic drawing - Preparation for entry to art schools - Dynamic Posing / Gesture - Storyboard - 2D animation - Pitch TV series - Integration into the professional world (portfolio / demoreel / CV) French and English.

Digital and Traditional Art Lessons for Children and Young Adults
The want and need to teach digital medium is there, but is it truly important to teach? Will digital art take the place of traditional art making? Studies suggest the use of digital tools in art education increases artistic development and creativity Why Traditional Art Matters? Digital art requires no less skill than traditional art making, but it does require a different mode of thinking. Yes, a digital device will have the ability to make a stroke look and layer like watercolour or give the texture of drawing with charcoal. However, when one learns traditional art techniques, they gain a deeper understanding of the materials and what they can do. Come and Discover this with me. I am an artist that works in digital and traditional illustrations. You can enjoy with me the world of the line, shapes, colours and even stories using different kind of techniques such as pencil, ink, markers, watercolour and colours. We can also use in the digital world Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. clip studio, paint, medibang paint and Firealpaca.
