Guitar and Music Theory Lessons from a Passionate Guitarist and Aspiring Educator
From 26.85 £ /h
As a trained guitarist, I'm happy to provide a comprehensive lesson on the subject of the student's choosing. Whether that be a core concept of guitar playing such as chord shapes and extensions, music theory as it applies to playing the guitar, melody and chord progression composition, or just learning a song.
Even if a student doesn't necessarily have a set goal in mind when considering booking a lesson, I am 100% certain that I can impart some kind of musical knowledge about the guitar and how its played.
My lessons include supplementary material as well. If you book a lesson intending on learning a song, then you will be receiving a chord sheet with the progression and chord charts. If you want to learn a concept like economy picking, I will at least one practice exercise I can provide you with to help reinforce that concept.

About Me
Hi, I'm Ricky. I'm an avid guitarist of about 7 years, as well as a saxophonist, intermediate bass player, and a prospective music educator. I got into music thanks to a fantastic band director in my high school, and decided that I wanted to do the same thing for my own students some day down the line. I want to give my students the tools necessary to express themselves however they see fit, whether that be by performing covers of songs they found to be really powerful, or by composing their own music.
In a lesson with me, you could learn a number of things from playing one of your favorite songs to technical aspects of playing such as extended chord voicings and picking technique, all the way up to music theory like functional harmony, improvisation and melodic composition

Education
I'm currently in my second year as a Music Studies major at Umass Lowell, expected to graduate with a BA in 2023 before moving to graduate school for a Master's in Music Education. I've been awarded the dean's scholarship and have made the dean's list two previous semesters.
Experience / Qualifications
I've been playing guitar for 7 years now, and with my education I've been required to play and teach a myriad of other instruments as well as performing other duties related to teaching. I've drafted lesson plans, run mock lessons on guitar and other instruments, as well as doing observations inside of music classrooms across the spectrum of K-12 public education.
