I've played guitar for over 10 years, and have taught many people during that time. I prefer to play by ear, so i can help you develop your own musical ear, which unlocks the ability to improvise, jam with other musicians, and understand music to a deeper degree.

My method: For beginners, we will try to play as quickly as possible some pieces, riffs and melodies. I will introduce you to chords, different ways of accompanying, in arpeggios, in strumming, with percussions... and rhythm!

For intermediates, we can refine your playing by discovering specific guitar techniques: bends, slides, back and forth, sweeping, legato, tapping, string-skipping, chicken-picking, etc. There is plenty to do! 😅 We will further install your sense of rhythm, the true foundation of solid musical expression. I have a simple and infallible method for learning scales, harmony and knowing how to use them. We will start improvisation, this exhilarating feeling of letting go giving an incredible feeling of freedom, to demystify the great masters of the guitar: Hendrix, Django, Gilmour, Knopfler, Stevie Ray, Clapton, Gallagher, Page.. and the one you like!

For apprentice shredders, with my technical skills, I will analyze your playing, freeing the blocking points, explore the harmony while refining the implementation because rhythm is music!

And for the die-hards there remains: modes, melodious minor, diminished system, augmented, parton, modal harmony, knowing phrasing on different styles, intervals, pairs of triads, playing in arpeggios, jazz and bop, chromatic approaches, enclosures, diatonic, tritonic substitutions, polymodality, modern pentas, changes in flow, visualization of the neck, the CAGED system, the Coltrane Change, Petrucci, Guthie Govan, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie, Greg Howe, Nuno, Tom Quayle, Martin Miller, Matteo Mancuso, Rick Graham, Meshugg, Periph... 😉

I have played a lot, on stage, in the studio, and elsewhere, I could also advise you on equipment and on creating a repertoire. Finally, I have training as a Mix-Master sound engineer, passed at the CFSM under the direction of Nicolas SAFFRAY. We can see creation and mixing techniques specific to MAO if that suits you more.

Professional musician and certified music teacher (CAPES), I offer private MAO lessons for those who want to venture into computer-assisted musical creation!
The lessons take place in my fully equipped home studio (monitoring speakers, keyboards, etc.).

We will learn the basic techniques of musical creation (audio/midi jack, drum rack, arrangements etc.) on a computer (Ableton, Cubase or Logic Pro software), we can also approach sound engineering including some notions of acoustics to perfect your overall mastery (mixing, frequencies, waves, etc.)!

Hello,

My name is Fabien. I have been the director of the ISSÉTYS music school, located in Lyon 6 for 17 years.

I'm also a guitar teacher. My expertise is immense, fueled by extensive experience as a professional musician in my younger years. An expertise rich in theoretical and practical knowledge, the origins of which lie in my third-year studies in musicology, my DEM (Master of Music Studies), and my gold medal in jazz guitar and contemporary music.

I've been teaching since I was 20. I'm 52 now. I have over 16,000 hours of teaching experience under my belt!

Passionate and expert, teacher (L3 in educational sciences), I teach children, teenagers and adults. I practice active pedagogies (learning by doing) and the best way to learn music is to share it.

In more detail, I teach the styles Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Funk, Classical, Bossa, Picking & Folk, but above all I teach the guitar, its functioning, its tips, its methodologies.

I also teach harmony, arranging and composition and improvisation.

One of the goals of singing lessons is to reconnect you with your body and it is through fun exercises that we will achieve this.
