My name is Valeria. I am an intelligent and knowledgeable vocal coach (jazz/pop) and singer. I work on breathing, sound support, speech, articulation, diction, pronunciation, rhythm, hearing and voice. I will teach you to sing, intonate, improvise and understand music in any genre and style (jazz, pop, rock and etc.). I will introduce you to the types and techniques of extreme vocals (growling and screaming). I have a higher musical education. I play the piano (more than 20 years) and have experience as a vocal coach 10 years. my students are people from 5 to 60 years old. I have interesting and diverse teaching methods. I took part in musical contests, concerts, festivals, projects and clips as a singer. Also, my students took part in international competitions and took prizes. I love my work with all my heart and approach everyone with understanding. The lesson lasts 1 hour and costs 13 BD.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. Later I moved to Canada to continue my education with professor Lee Kum Sing at Vancouver Academy of Music (2017-2019). During my career I have achieved numerous awards on many significant piano competitions. I become platinum winner at Vancouver International Music Competition in 2017 which was held to celebrate 150th Canada’s birthday. I became Platinum Cash Prize Winner and achieved numerous extra prices. In October 2015 I accomplished the second round of XVII International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. This achievement is a promotion to the top 30 world best young pianists. I achieved 3rd place twice (2013, 2015) in the National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. In 2008, I won the first prize and the Special Award of Elżbieta Stefańska for the best performance of Johann Sebastian Bach piece at the 10th Ludwik Stefański and Halina Czerny-Stefańska Piano Competition in Płock, Poland. Two years later I received second price in the 16th Polish Piano Competition in Konin, Poland and I was awarded the third prize at the International Podkarpacki Chopin Competition held in Rzeszów, Poland. I have been awarded many scholarships, such as those sponsored by the Mayor of my hometown Katowice, the Marshal of Silesian Province and the Polish Prime Minister. I cooperated with Piotr Kler Foundation and recorded three solo CDs with Fryderyk Chopin's music. In 2014 I was the very first to receive a Krystian Zimerman Award for most talented young pianists.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano. I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation. I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.
