All-level Conversational English with American Tutor
From 26.8 £ /h
This class is aimed at anyone looking to increase their English-speaking and listening skills. Depending on the student's interests, the focus will shift from vocabulary expansion and sentence structuring to "accent" reduction. My goal is to be a talking partner with whom you can engage in significant conversations about any topic you are interested in. Whether you are getting ready for a trip or a presentation or if you just want to make sure you do not forget what you already know, practice makes perfect and I want to try to help you achieve your goals.
I will pay attention whenever you are speaking and point out the mistakes (or "funny-sounding" phrases) in a polite manner after you finish speaking. That way I will not cut you off or discourage you from not being afraid of making mistakes (which we all make).

About Me
I have always been fascinated by the idea of sharing the knowledge that I have worked so hard to amass. I always try to teach my students that in both languages and mathematics, the only key is practice, practice, practice. I was born and raised in Venezuela. Four years ago I moved to the US to pursue higher education. During these years I worked as a Teaching Assistant for classes such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Physics I and II. Additionally, I worked as a private tutor for SAT and GRE prep courses for a year and a half and a year, respectively. Depending on your level of knowledge and expected goal, my focus will shift from elucidating concepts to allow you to see what is happening, to lots of problems to get familiar with the material. Over the years I have come up with strategies and techniques to efficiently tackle these science classes, and I am looking forward to sharing them with you.
To give you an idea of my mastery of this content, I got a perfect score in the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GRE six months ago.

Did you know that there are 20 Hispanic-speaking countries in the world? There is way more to this beautiful language than what is spoken in Spain. Son Venezuelan parents, I want to give you the chance to experience this language with different eyes, to hear different accents (you get to choose between Venezuelan, Colombian, and Argentinian), and learn a bit from different cultures, thus helping to broaden your horizons. I am an ELE certified Spanish teacher and regardless of the accents, we are here to improve your Spanish.

When I first took the TOEFL (six years ago), I knew enough English to watch a movie without subtitles andg get most of what was happening and to engage in very simple small talk. I got 108 that time. A prep course I did for the TOEFL taught me that this exam is more about knowing the exam than about the English itself. The predictability of these standardized tests is your biggest weapon. After having moved to the US and having lived there for four years, I can safely say that my level of English is exponentially better than it was when I took the TOEFL. The classes would basically consist of non-stop practice of the different test sections. The goal is for you to show up on the exam date knowing everything that is coming and having the confidence that you can answer it.
