About Me

Hi, I'm bilingual French/English of Swiss/French and USA origins. I live in the West of Ireland near the Atlantic Ocean. I hold a Degree in Early Childhood Education and I have worked for several years as a child instructor/educator with children aged 4 to 12 years old. I have been a tutor for children, teenagers, adults, and even seniors (4 to 85 y/o).
My teaching is always interactive in order to hold my students’ attention during the whole length of the classes, using numerous learning tools (photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, etc.) Naturally, I will focus on the priority of each student. Some students will want to improve their pronunciation, grammatical, and vocabulary skills, others will need to prepare a presentation or a speech at school/work, while others just want to learn a new language to enrich their general knowledge.

Phillip made an effort to understand my aspirations and the way I learn and has managed to combine structured learning with interesting discussions and articles which prompt learning by doing and keep the lessons fun and varied. Like all excellent teachers, he brings his own, interesting life experience to learning topics and discussions. Highly recommend Phillip whatever your level and however your brain is wired!
Phillip is a great, engaging teacher who in my experience really adapts to the needs of the student. Classes are always interesting with him!
he is a very good teacher. I look forward to making more progress
We had just one lesson and were ready to continue with Philippe, but he had to cancel all subsequent lessons due to family reason. This was a pity, as we really liked the teacher and his approach to teaching.
Phil is a wonderful teacher! He's a relaxed and knowledgeable person who is very easy to talk to and instantly puts you at ease. Classes are always fun and interesting. One minute we're laughing hard and the next we're discussing the meaning of life! I heartily recommend Phil to anyone who is looking to brush up their French! :)

This English conversation and grammar course is suitable for adults and teenagers. My goal is to help you progress, at your own pace, in this language. Whether it is to learn the basics of English, improve it to go on vacation or even move to an English-speaking country, or for your professional career, I adapt to each of your needs and objectives. I am bilingual English / French, I have Irish-American origins and for 20 years I offered tutoring from the age of 4 to seniors over 85! It's never too late to improve! Entrepreneur for several years, I also have training as an educator and socio-cultural animator.
I have been tutoring French and English for the past 20 years to students of various ages & origins and of numerous backgrounds: children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and also sometimes even older seniors (85+). Why am I teaching both languages? Well, I’m bilingual and of American & Swiss/French origins, and... I live in Ireland! This is what makes my teaching strong and relevant because I understand both cultures and therefore I can adapt my classes depending on the language of my students. While I was studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland, I was giving French/English private lessons in order to earn a side income. And I genuinely enjoyed it doing it! After I graduated and started working full-time, I didn’t give up this activity because I loved meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals. And sometimes too, parents want their younger children to master a new language. Thanks to my education and experience with children, I’m also able to run a class dedicated to them! What you will gain from my course is not only good pronunciation and vocabulary/grammar improvement but also a deeper knowledge and understanding of the culture that surrounds one language! When you speak a language it’s important to appreciate the lifestyle, traditions, and heritage of the nation(s) speaking it. Both French and English are spoken in many countries around the world, as primary languages, and with so many different accents: the learning process is unlimited! Before the COVID restrictions, I was mainly teaching face-to-face and with a maximum of four students, but at the moment, I’m only teaching online (one-and-one) on Zoom. Besides that, I’m also a genealogist, I’m running Spiritual Seminars in the West of Ireland and I have a passion for vegetarian & vegan cuisine. I hold a Degree in Early Childhood Education for many years I owned a private “Before & Afterschool” facility for children aged 4 to 12. I’m looking forward to meeting you

Learn Armenian language, grammar, literature and history in Western Armenian.
Western Armenian is a language that has been put in the endangered language's list, and I personally believe that such a rich language should never die. I believe that I am taking a huge initiative to be one of the individuals who'll try to save this important language from disappearing. I try to make my lessons as interacting as possible. The lessons and exercises will be provided through PowerPoint presentations. I try to listen to my student in order to prepare the lesson plan together, according to his needs and preferences. I've always been the smiling and friendly tutor who makes the student comfortable during the lessons. I believe that in order to reach the students you need to understand them also emotionally and psychologically.

History tutoring and exam preparation for 11+, 13+, GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, IB and University Applications
I am a first class graduate of History and Politics at the University of Manchester, having received an A* at A-level in History. I have a passion for all things past tense, and that reflects in the enjoyment of past students' in my lessons. I have been tutoring History for 3 years during my time at university, and have decided to continue this now I have graduated. I have a great deal of experience helping students gain entry into some of Manchester's most competitive schools, such as Manchester Grammar, Withington High school and St Bedes. My favourite level to teach, however, is GCSE and A-level History, where I believe a tutor can go into a level of detail that is not covered in class, and allow for a greater quality of essay reflecting this deeper understanding of a period. This understanding is inevitably reflected in essays, in which I will also coach a structure of writing that is suited to both exams at the time, and help with a-level and university level further down the line.

Ask me about Jamaica! Are you curious to learn more about Jamaica- to go beyond Reggae and Jerk? Its history, people, politics and culture?
Ever wondered about life in Jamaica beyond the lights of Kingston’s allure? This class offers an ethnographic journey of practises and cultures in rural Jamaica, illustrated through photos, songs and videos. Let's explore life in rural Jamaica! Born and raised in a remote rural district/village, I will take you on an authentic journey of first hand experiences- reliving fond childhood memories, the stories my grandmother told me and what a typical day is like. This will be grounded in the history and culture of Jamaica. Coming from a background in diplomacy, sharing about Jamaica's culture and historical experiences has always been essential for opening the door to a deeper unerstanding. I have an avid interest in other cultures and always take the time to explore wherever I go. Having been to South and Central America, Asia, North America and Europe, I know the unique value of such rich experiences. Whenever I was home-sick while posted abroad, talking about my homeland was the only cure. I will share with you all there is about living in rural Jamaica, from different perspectives of my childhood, teenage years and adult life. One unique bit is that the district's enduring small farms form the centrepiece around which everything revolves. Come prepared with a curious mind, and if you want to make notes take your pen and paper or do so on your devices. It is important for me that your are learning, so I encourage you to ask questions. Let's go beyond Kington's enigma!

Understand THE ELECTRIC MOTOR - Probably THE ONLY TEACHER Who REALLY GIVES YOU THE REAL UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT REALLY IS HAPPENING !
EXPERIENCED TEACHER - I BEGAN TEACHING OVER 35 YEARS AGO ! HOME - SCHOOL - UNIVERSITY - BUSINESS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most teachers find the Electric Motor difficult to teach - I used to be like this. Now, I never need to revise much of it again ! Using a different far MORE ACCURATE WAY TO TEACH it, I will show you how to never forget it and to understand the real processes happening in it ! To do this, 1 - I dismiss the Conventional Current ; I will show you by the REAL CURRENT so no more confusion for you ! 2 - I will show you what everyone is scared to explain - the SPLIT RING COMMUTATOR functions - including how MOMENTUM SWINGS the magnetic wire loop at 90* to the parallel magnetic bar poles ! Can you find any other teacher who will show this to you ? 3 - I will show you step by step WHY and HOW the loop moves ! 4 - THEN, later as a bonus, I WILL make ANOTHER COMPLEX CONCEPT very EASY by using the same model I gave you to show you what exactly is AC / DC , alternating current and how it is made the easy ways ! Nota Bene Before I had this method, I was like most teachers finding it difficult. The number 1 reason why my teaching makes things so very easy is because the Lord Jesus Christ gives me all this wonderful insight, so that I CONFIDENTLY AM ABLE TO MAKE MANY STUDENTS - OF EVEN LOW GRADES - AIM JUST FOR TOP GRADES - from the 1st day of tuition - if they wholly follow my methodology properly ! Testimony --------- 92% Mathematics - By A Girl NOT In Top Sets - ca 7 Lessons ONLY !

history geography geopolitics political science
At present, history and geopolitics are two major subjects to master. I therefore offer you different courses, methodologies, understanding of events, relations between countries for example in order to help your children. This can be done in different ways, through games, so-called "traditional" lessons, exchanges, advice, etc... and these methods will be adapted according to the needs of the child.

Exciting History Lessons For All Ages and Abilities!
Studying and understanding the past is incredibly important for making sense of the present and future. The course and lessons can be tailor made to the history you want to learn or I can put together a course touching on multiple topics chosen by me. This can include Ancient, Medieval or Modern History from around the world. My Bachelors degree is in History of Art, so I can provide lessons on this as well. My Masters degree was in History and Culture with a focus on Black British History in 60s-80s Britain. If you want to understand more about this rich history that is not included in the school curriculum, please book on today. This will focus on how minority groups resisted the racism and poor treatment they received. I am also a newly qualified History Teacher at secondary level, up to KS5, which means I understand the national curriculum and can contextualise the exam syllabus in order to maximise student outcomes and progress. I understand that different tasks and approaches work for different types of students, meaning I strive to adapt lessons and alter my teaching style accordingly. I am committed to creating a positive and relaxed environment where the tutee feels comfortable and engaged in the lesson. Hopefully my classes will help you ignite your love for history and uncover new found interests! Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information and queries.

Online History Tuition and Exam Support for National 5, GCSE, Highers, A Level
The aim for my lessons is to provide the student with the skills and belief to approach coursework and exams with well-founded confidence. After an introductory session, lessons will typically last 1 hour and will be flexible based on the student's main areas for improvement. Focuses could include: essay writing, researching efficiently, practical exam advice and thinking critically about sources. I attained a first class degree (with hons) in History and went on to gain a master's from the University of St Andrews. For my master's I also received an award for distinction in the dissertation. In 2022 I will begin a PhD in History at the University of Edinburgh. My studies have given me a great appreciation for organisation, time-management and the need for prompt constructive feedback. I will always endeavour to provide this for my students. My passion and expertise are in History and I am strongly motivated to help and inspire students who wish to pursue the Humanities or English at University. With a bit of support, the struggle of exams and coursework ought to be no barrier for enjoying these subjects and producing a high standard of work.
