Getting creative: Painting, DIY and Arts and Crafts

I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.

Egg tempera is one of the most ancient historical art painting technique. It preserved as a main technique to paint orthodox religious icons. It is possible to learn it and paint your own icon. I have 9 years of practice teaching people how to do it. We work together step by step to understand the technique, the way to prepare wooden panel to paint an icon and the techniques of making a good project to make the icon fit to the board. We also learn how to make gold leaf layer on the nimbs. Your icon will be a real, crafted icon.

These courses are aimed at amateurs who are curious to discover or deepen their knowledge of painting, graphics, abstract art and colour work. They are also perfect for unique moments to share in a group: team building, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays or any other creative event. The goal is to explore and free your imagination through painting (acrylic, watercolor, oil and dry pastel). Here, it is not about reproducing reality, but about exploring the movement of the brush, the shapes and colors that translate your emotions and ideas, to create a personal and unique work. A Romanian born artist, who finished architecture high school and now studies Spatial Design at the Willem de Kooning Art Academy in Rotterdam. I offer these art classes for anyone who is passionate about art and learning the techniques of creating art. In the classes you will learn how to draw composition of objects, painting, perspective, interior design, but also multimedia.

I like to start class with the fundamentals! Once we’ve covered those we can get on to working towards your art goals. Using oils and acrylics to create fine art images. You will learn basic colour theory to mix a simple palette of colours. Sessions might include the use of some drawing skills. You will be encouraged to use your creative skills to find your own style.

The class also empowers you to be daring in your approaches through inviting you to test media, approaches and techniques.

Crochet can be seen as a form of creative expression, as individuals can use these skills to make unique and personalised items. From intricate blankets and scarves to delicate lacework and hats, knitting and crochet offer endless opportunities to showcase creativity and individuality. It also helps to keep the mind sharp and stimulated, and improves dexterity. It is also known to promote a sense of calm and relaxation, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety. By focusing on the repetitive movements of knitting or crochet, the mind can enter a meditative state, providing a sense of mental and emotional balance.

This is a matte painting portfolio build-up class designed for those interested in creating a professional portfolio and pursuing a career in film postproduction. In this class, you will learn industry-standard techniques to transform scenes from day to night and create stunning, atmospheric environments. Through hands-on practice, you’ll gain a solid foundation in matte painting essentials, working with lighting, color correction, and composition. By the end of the course, you will have developed a polished portfolio with pieces that showcase your ability to enhance storytelling through visual landscapes—ideal for launching your journey in the world of postproduction.

Through the creative medium of visual art, I will fit the lesson plan according to your needs. Do you want to learn colour theory? I will teach you, using information from key texts. I've internationally exhibited in many mediums, as well as nationally (in the UK) over 20 times, including with the Tate, with the Mayflower 400 initiative, a space arts and God's House Tower. I work traditionally in physical mediums such as watercolour, oil paint, acrylics, gouache, coloured pencil, charcoal and graphite. I graduated with a First Class BA Honours in Fine Art from Southampton University. I run workshops for groups locally, and work with therapeutic art techniques. I'm well-versed in grant writing, having achieved 3 successful grants to date and my work is featured in a number of publications. I have been fortunate enough to have works in private collections. My hours are flexible, and the range of mediums I work in is too. I have experience teaching, and am bilingual in English and Greek.
