Hello,

I am Phoebe, originally from London in the UK, however, I have lived in many places such as Fiji, Australia, Scotland, various places in England, and now in Finland! I am a PhD researcher who is specialising in Arctic marine ecology with a solid background in marine science and ecology.

Now, I am on this website in the hope to share some of the knowledge and skills I have accumulated over the years and passing them on to you in a calm manner, with no pressure, and fun, easy-going one-on-one sessions. As a scientist, you have to know many skills (not just the science!), and so I have represented a few of the necessary skills here on my page to help you in your early scientist careers.

Marine Science - Biology, Ecology, and Oceanography!

Whether it's marine mammals, comparing polar and tropic seas, or understanding the oceanographic processes and the currents around the world, and how these might change with climate change, I am happy to help with a tailored marine biology course for you. Beginner level coding for R - science, statistics, and ecology

Becoming a scientist? Statistics and coding skills are an important part of your everyday job. Learn early, practice, and with no time you will be flying through your data analyses before everybody else. Using coding software such as R allows you to interpret and analyse meaningful data and plot beautiful graphs using base R or multiple libraries.
I will teach you the basic syntax of R, how to understand and 'think' like R, and build on those skills to do more complicated statistics (ANOVA's, PCA, GLM's, mixed-effects models, etc.) and - the most important(!) - how to plot beautiful graphs!

I would recommend this level of tutoring to college and university level students (that's not to deter any of you ambitious secondary/high school students, or people with a general interest, you are more than welcome!). The SAT is a landmark exam for many high school students. A good exam score can be instrumental in college admissions. This course is designed to provide students with resources to set a goal score, make a study plan, and feel confident on test day. I got a 1530 on my most recent SAT, and I am dedicated to uplifting students to and beyond that score.
I can help specifically with the English and Math multiple choice parts of the exam. With students I will cover both content, the information being tested on the exam, and testing strategies, how to more efficiently and effectively take the test.
