About Me

Hi I'm Jamie; I'm a piano player of 12 years with a high focus on music production, composition and improvisation. I've studied in the ins and outs of counterpoint and the harmonic analysis of music to enabled better re-creation of reference music with a twist. I have a full understanding of Ableton Live; including live-looping for live sets, live music production, music mixing and mastering ( and doing so on the fly )

As a teacher I won't lie I'm going to tell you the simple truth. The hardest part is having the confidence to know what you're doing is correct; especially when it comes to composition and improvisation. There's no real ruleset; and I'll teach you why.

My teaching style is relaxed as I'll answer any questions asked directly and sometimes with abstract ideas to guide you to grasping the concept yourself. This is an integral part of learning.

I have an MA in Music ( Distinction ) at UCLAN with a an exact focus on music composition, theory and harmony in composition for video games and media and BA(Hons) in Professional Musicianship ( Drums ) from BIMM Manchester which included studies in Music business, Culture and Marketing.

I produce music for indie game companies and indie media studios as well as continually try and push the boundaries in immersive technology and experiences with spatial audio. I have a Masters in Music and a grade 7 in Music theory - I didn't feel a grade 8 was necessary after gaining the masters.

A typical lesson works on a mix of technique (posture, bow control, tone production), repertoire suited to your level and taste, and — if you want it — music theory and sight-reading. This is not a casual lesson. It is a structured professional assessment for students who practise regularly but do not fully understand why their playing still does not sound free, stable, expressive or convincing.

I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and piano educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience, international performance background, recordings, masterclasses and academic-level teaching experience.
