Many musical artists find themselves at a hurdle when it comes to making their recorded tracks sound professional. The aim of my course is to provide students with the knowledge and understanding they need in order to properly mix and master their music, finishing tracks to a professional standard and making them ready for release.

Audio needs to be treated in specific ways to make it sound clean and ready for the radio, streaming sites, CDs and more.

I will take you through every essential aspect of mixing and mastering audio, including (but not limited to):

- Software and plugins.
- Gain staging and preparing stems for mixdown.
- Compression and EQ.
- "Bussing" techniques and instrument arrangement.
- Effect chains.
- Layering.
- Creating width, warmth and richness.
- Essential tips and tricks.

This course is ideal for both beginners looking to get started with mixing their music, and for people with a prior understanding of the craft who need additional information and advice to get their music finished to a professional standard.

This course can be taught effectively in person or remotely.

Extra information

We can work on one of your own pieces of music or an example piece. Having your own laptop is useful but not essential. I advise having a notepad and pen for note taking, diagrams etc.

About Me

My name is Tim, and I am a young and enthusiastic individual with an esoteric understanding of Music Composition, Production and Sound Engineering.

I am easy to get on with and make a real effort to adapt my classes to be relevant to each individual. My students are my priority, and I will make sure that every class is engaging, relevant, and fun.

I am a graduate of the University of Manchester and have mixed and mastered music for underground artists who have been represented on BBC Introducing and other notable radio stations. I am trained in Sound Engineering and have mastered my craft of composition over many years. I am a classically trained pianist, a Grade 8 guitarist, a drummer, and I am confident with DJing and synthetic sound crafting (synthesizers, drum machines, etc).

I specialize in one on one tutoring for techniques used in the creation of electronic based music. Classes will be tailored to your specific interests, but can include:

- Logic Pro, Ableton or other DAW tutorial to a professional level
- Background to and practical knowledge of all processes/plug-ins/ hardware required to make electronic music; e.g. compression, EQ, sampling, different types of synthesis, etc, etc
- Music and production theory
- Learn how to create & arrange tracks

This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to produce electronic music, or just to further their existing knowledge. The class will be tailored to you; what specifically would you like to learn? What genre do you want to make etc? We will discuss this before the first lesson.

I have been releasing records, DJ'ing and playing live all over the world for 10 years
I have a working knowledge of music theory and play many instruments including guitar, drums, and keys. Lessons will take place in my studio, where you can get hands-on experience of vintage synthesizers and other instruments.

Breathing exercises, vocal cord and diaphragm awareness exercises, vocal range exercises, an introduction to notes, scales and chords; advanced topics such as circle of fifths and other methods to read and compose progressions, negative harmony concept, complex chords; introduction to DAW's (digital audio workstation), working with cubase, working with ableton, working with pro tools, working with other audio software, sound and fx design, how to compose a catchy tune, how to write music for branding, how to write music for youtube, how to write music for gaming.

I teach Guzheng and Chinese music theory from beginners to advanced students, or for professional purposes. My teaching styles is mixed Chinese and Taiwanese, figuring out which is the best way for students.definitely bringing you a different learning style. I will ask my students lots "Why" on their performance. It helps students think, have their own character in music.

We will focus on basic practice and technical aspects, such as posture, finger strength, movements and articulation. I focus on expression and interpretation of different music pieces, how student think of the notes and how to present music.
We start with tuning and doing basic training, revision of last lesson for 15 minutes, follow by learning those pieces in detail for about 20 - 25 minutes. The last 5-10 minutes will be dedicated to the review and assignments. Besides all these, I will teach basic Chinese Music theory as well to help with better understanding and learning on Music.

*Part of basic training will always in every lesson. This helps students to have a better control of their fingers' independence, and to strengthen every techniques.

For specific learning Chinese music theory students, please bring with a notebook to mark down those key points.

I use Ableton Live, however most skills are transferable between DAW's.

We will go through production techniques and how best to use them. I also encourage students to share any work in progress tracks so we can go through them and fine tune.

I feel many learning resources for music producers are based around a "one size fits all" approach, which, from experience is rarely true. Music is creative and subjective art which should be emphasised with the production.

The world of music theory and notation can seem daunting and complex for the uninitiated, but with a little bit of coaching, anyone can learn to speak the language of composition. In this class, I will teach students how to notate their musical ideas, as well as to stretch and develop them into fully fledged pieces.

Suitable for any level of ability, I can introduce the basics, help with GCSE and A-Level students, or assist anyone who is interested in composition as an independent project. With me, you will learn about a variety of composers and their music from J.S. Bach to Morton Feldman and their approaches to composition. This will do nothing but enrich your own work and inspire your creativity.

This class aims to help students develop the skills necessary to write original songs, from generating ideas to composing lyrics and melodies. Students will learn how to structure a song, create emotional resonance, and apply basic music theory to enhance their songwriting. By the end of the lesson, students will have written a complete song draft, incorporating both lyrical and musical elements.

Target Audience:
This class is suitable for beginner to intermediate songwriters, musicians, and anyone interested in learning the art of songwriting. No prior music theory knowledge is required, but a basic understanding of instruments (guitar, piano, etc.) or vocal skills will be helpful.
